It bothers me that Black musicians were the standard and now a lot don't even bother to learn any instrument. As naturally rhythmic and soulful as we are I don't think we always appreciate how skilled jazz musicians and funk bands specifically were. Technology is great in a lot of ways but because of it we mostly likely won't another Prince, Rick James, Hendrix, Mayfield, Hayes, White. Never see anything like Parliament/Funkadelic again. And even if someone comes along that's really ill with it they most likely won't get much shine

Hip-hop is bad for the black community.

Most of these rappers have no integrity.

Blueface is blowing up.

I would love to throw them in the bushes, but mumble rappers are generally better than lyricists at making music.

Big Sean sucks at putting projects together.

Rap is for everyone, it's lost some of the artistry but expanded it's scope. It's more of a product and less of a culture, and that's not a bad thing.

It may not be a "bad" thing, buts its not a good thing. Not everything is for everyone.

Jay and ye not reconciling to make a wtt2.:francis:

Freddie Gibbs is the complete package, but don't get the recognition he deserves.

Nas won't go to Ross for beats or hop on more trap beats.

People need to recognize legitimate sub-genres and sub-scenes, and not continue to put everything under one umbrella. It's usually the :flabbynsick: heads, or the :flabbynsick: gatekeepers who do this. Commenting under a Lil Xan video like "THIS AINT REAL HIP HOP!" ... yeah? no shyt. no one with half a brain would say it is. Kids coming out today for better or worse are making a huge variety of music, and just because those kids grew up listening to rap and the music they're making happens to have words that rhyme, doesn't mean it should be sold as "rap"

Here's another harsh reality: the sideline commentators and critics have become more important and more long-lasting than the art and artists they make a living talking about. With social media, everyone can join in on the discussion, so there really is no need to have discussions centralized around personalities and talking heads.

That arguably the GOAT lyricist (Canibus) won't get his just due until he's dead, despite his peers knowing what's up. :mjcry:
