Seems like these young bucks aint about that AKA life

Paul George doesnt get a nickname?
Blake Griffin?
Kyrie Irving?
James Harden?
Westbrook?
Aldridge?

Coli exclusives aside, most of em dont have nicknames or just fall back on generic initial/last name combinations (CP3, KD, K.Love, D.Rose) :beli:

What happened to the days of The Iceman and Dr. Dunkenstein?

Human Highlight Film :wow:

Now we have Big Baby and Swaggy P :upsetfavre: :camby:

All of these guys have nicknames.

Paul George is "PG13" back in the Miami/Indy battles he was "King George"
Blake Griffin had multiple nicknames, my favorite was "The Rim Reaper"
Kyrie Irving was "Uncle Drew"
Ames Harden is "The Beard"
Westbrook is young sabo :youngsabo:
Aldridge doesn't need a nickname because LMA is easier

edit: this topic is old :snoop:

I don’t think it’s just the NBA.

The NFL too (around the 16:30 mark)

All over sports, it seems there’s just fewer good nicknames. Maybe people are running out of ideas, or maybe it’s just plain a lack of creativity.

Today’s nicknames are way better than corny ass ‘90s nicknames.

Imagine some fakkit calling himself “The Worm” in this era.

Seems like this is true for every sport, trends come and go.

Nowadays it seems like it's more just based on their names SGA, Hali/the Haliban, Ant-man, KAT, Joker etc. Even if they still try with some like The Anomaly, they really don't stick. Like say JJJ, people only say JJJ although he has The block panther.

Cause probably, they sound corny to both the players and the new fans :yeshrug:

Spida and Greek freak are the only ones I can think of that are frequently used that aren't connected to the players name. Unless you go a bit further back with Claw and them.

Edit: I also think everyone has a nickname, just they don't stick. Just like Grant Hill, Pippen, Ewing, or Stockton or even Kareem might've had many nicknames but they didn't stick like some other stars.
