They don't understand how habitually online people are now. Seriously from either tiktok to Instagram people are consuming content and its telling them how to think and live.
Lots of people are now in the house more. There is a severe lack of 3rd places and social media is isolating people with interactions that aren't real. Even pops doesnt understand it. Yall live in a different context now. He'll be like "you meet people everyday" that's the thing though. That works when everyone is social. But the interactions young people have now they don't talk to strangers, it's difficult for young men to make other friends with young men let alone the women.
There's a loneliness epidemic. As man who came out of a 4 year relationship I started when I was in my mid 20s to now it feelsl like night and day. I don't think the men and women are less attracted to each other but people are less open. I think this may be a byproduct of the pandemic.
Because even prior to it we had a lot more interaction and social interactions can be tiresome now because they can be so one sided. Older people continue to socialize in person because that's all they know. Younger people may have started to form the habit but disrupted development due to the online only switch caused them to lean into comfort zones.
I've seen videos from 90s parties, I've seen 2000s videos of people just walking around. I've watched my father when he goes places. Everyone speaks to each other and the women don't mind a compliment or two. Now they act like they are offended on social media from dudes complimenting them. Are we surprised how it got like this? Even during college there was this complaining about "toxic masculinity". I remember they were upset men were seating on busses with their legs open. Part of masculinity is approaching and pursuing people you are interested in and being social. Shut in nerds who can't hold a conversation in the 90s were considered effeminate and weak. Now it's considered normal. Yall old heads don't understand this because you don't see it. Just my 2 cents
