I am sorry brother, but nothing you stated in this post makes a lick of sense. The only true way to tell if a product is as popular as another product is by the comparison of revenues. Both Men's and Women's College Basketballs are products. One brings in far more revenue than the other, which in turns proves that one is far more popular than the other.

I.E. one has far more fans than the other, since one is actually bringing in far more revenue from its fans than the other does.
You can tell the poster you quoted was full of shyt because he edited his post lol

I don't equate popularity to money.

Women's college basketball is just as popular from a fan perspective as the men's due to college/university prestige.

The Women's NCAA Tournament garners the same amount of attention and interest as the men's from a fan perspective.

You can clearly see the difference in popularity and fan interest between Women's NCAA and the WNBA.

You'll find more fans interested and invested in Women's college basketball compared to the WNBA. Just like the Women's US soccer team is just as popular (if not more than) the Men's US team obviously because playing for the country is prestige in itself.

NBA....started well behind boxing, baseball, college football, NFL etc.

Sport grew a bit with Wilt/Russell but the NBA was on life support after that era. They needed Magic vs Bird to save them and that's what vaulted them onto the path they're on today. MJ took it over the top.

Men consume enough sports as-is. Women gotta watch it on TV to get those numbers up.

WNBA also needs some players that draw people to the game. A 6'5" broad with Kyrie handles, looks like Skylar Diggins and can dunk....a physically attractive player that has rare physical ability but also can dominate with just skill. Basically a really tall version of Simone Biles.

Not sure the ladies have that MJ/Bron/Wilt athlete that just captivates people but that's what the league needs. Problem is that hoops tends to be the sport that tall girls play......but tall girls aren't necessarily the best athletes. The best female athletes end up running track, playing soccer or doing gymnastics...maybe tennis. We end up with a bunch of skilled tall broads instead of freak ath-a-leets

Women don't really watch sports and men tend to watch men sports.

The only people I've met that watch the NBA were straight up male basketball junkies/fanatics. You gotta be really into ball to watch the WNBA

Women comprise nearly half of NFL audience, but more wanted.

The reason why a majority of women don't/won't watch the WNBA is simply because it's dull & lacks excitement.

The WNBA's audience is 75 percent women.

75% of how many women? :jbhmm:

Women don’t care about sports unless they are playing it or watching someone they care play.

But this whole discussion IS about money. That is the premise of this debate and why this thread was made.

You can CLAIM it is popular all you want, but numbers don't lie.

You have your point but we all know women don't really find football that interesting

I never went to work and heard women recap on how great Tom Brady's passing is or how fast Breece hall is.

I really think women's interest in football ties into in being attached to American Culture, the Superbowl, a date idea etc.

I think this is the problem. Guys will play sports recreationally even if they have zero talent for organized sports.

Add the monetary ecosystem of apparel and collecting, you create passion among fans at a young age.

The main thing the WNBA has an advantage at is women like being seen. So even if they aren’t sports players, getting them excited about apparel and collecting should be easier. But that would require them to spend more on creating WNBA’s own identity outside of just jerseys and sweats.

They have attractive players. No reason they shouldn’t have Fenty branded stuff.
