All this tells me is you're mad at people praising Kanye.
I think it's a dope album, that's it, I said none of that other stuff.
I just gave kanye praise for mbdtf, really on yeezus the praise would go to much of the ghost producers who worked on it :manny:
You didn't have to, but what you did imply was that you didn't get what I was saying, and that my post was fukking garbage and so I broke it down for you :ehh:

I gave you my opinion on why I think it's pretentious garbage and how it's become beyond critique, so take that however you want breh :steviej:

I think new slaves was pretentious and the entire hypocritical rhetoric is cringeworthy, he posits himself in a similar way al sharpton or some other fallacious preacher would, the punchlines are funny at best
The Blood on the Leaves sample has been used endlessly throughout hip hop, Nina Simone in general is a go to, completely oversaturated, interesting use of the chops though and I liked the brass sequencing, the autotune was :scust: though...........
Also I don't see much of a death grips influence other than sonically, with a lot of digital distortion and harsh synth selection here and there....it seems like a bit of a cop out, people who really listen to rap music are used to dirt and grit on records......but people seem to invalidate their opinion, because they think the opposite is true, real heads use to the lo-fi sound.....anyway just my opinion, if you like the album salute and stay :Wavegod:

compare ye and jenkin's use of the sample, though. ye was going for something completely sonically different. i mean, that could be a detriment on its own. i love the way it sounds on the record but the rest of the song confuses the shyt out of me. it's literally the best use of it instrumentally with the worst lyrics surrounding it which seems to be his thing when you look at tlop.

it's definitely there sonically which is the big thing. it's a big artist pushing that sound to the mainstream. you really don't hear much dirt and grime on records from an artist of his caliber. lo-fi is more commonly found in shyt like pop and whatnot, at least when it comes to be acclaimed and recognized on the internet and from artists. i'm a huge grimes fan and she's acclaimed like crazy now, but if a black r&b singer replicated her sound, they might fukk around and win grammys. i guess it's not totally original, but it's still pretty big coming from somebody like ye.

but aye, i can't hate on your opinion either way. i think ye went out his way for that to be purposely decisive and lead to talks like this. some people are gonna fukk with and some aren't. i can see and understand both povs.

also i definitely agree with you about new slaves being hypocritical but i also think its less so when you hear him talk about wanting to make his shyt more accessible to everybody. it's gonna take time but if Fear of God can go from selling a regular oxford shyt for $450 to a PacSun collection ranging to no more than like $2-300 on everything than Ye can do it, too and i hope he does.

this shyt is completely underrated but his fashion struggle is one i hope he continues to do well in. shout out to him and that ripoff artist virgil for bringing black designers into the mainstream. compare his very first paris show to the reviews of his latest shyt and it's basically his music career all over again which makes new slaves poignant as fukk, imo.

Kanye been off since he let them take his moms. Then he married that slut and became the joke of the industry. I can see why Biggs and Camel would say that.

I always say that breh. He aint been the same since his momma died

It Kinda makes sense, sometimes I look at these artists and wonder if being famous is even worth it, they lose everything in the long run.

Up in the morning, miss you bad
Sorry I ain't called you back
The same problem my father had
All his time, all he had,
all he had, in what he dreamed
All his cash, market crashed
Hurt him bad, people get divorced for that
Drops some stacks, pops is good
Momma pass' in Hollywood
If you ask, lost my soul

Driving fast, lost control
Off the road, jaw was broke
'member we all was broke
'member I'm coming back
I'll be taking all the stacks - Father Stretch My Hands
Pt. 2

People in this thread need to stop.

Not about Kanye as a person since that's the topic, but associating it with his music.
Jay knows Kanye the person, so when he talks about missing the old Kanye it's a legitimate comment on his emotional state.
So stop trying to act in turn with that comment, that Kanye fukked up his music with his moms death.

When Kanye went on to make a classic album, with classic hits, that shifted the genre.

The album currently considered the best of the decade.

And the widely loved and critically acclaimed album known as Yeezus.

All of which added to his legacy.

Graduation and TLOP are his only albums to be received lukewarmly by critics and the wide populous.
Nothing about Biggs statement implies any relation to music.

I agree its not in relation to music...... kanye West just never seems happy these days .... dude just goes from rant to rant .... he just needs to relax a bit more

Biggs went from Jay's partner to little man?

This is between two rich and famous men and when they make up Biggs is gonna look like a sucka.

Let's not forget context...Biggs is promoting the 20 yr Anniversary of Reasonable Doubt and someone prolly asked him about Ye's recent comments. It's not like he just randomly made the statement.

I'm not a Kanye West fan but I would love to see him become successful in the fashion world, I already see places like H&M biting his clothing style(I only give Kanye credit because he was the first person I saw to do the homeless look)
