Somewhere like being an assistant coach in the NBA, thus coaching NBA players :ohhh:

Ewing was an NBA assistant coach for years, yet had to go down the college level to prove himself and still not ever get an NBA coaching job. I don't get this mentality and obligation that Hammon is obligated to be one especially considering that other assistant coaches have/had had to wait for an opportunity longer than she has.

Don't use her playing days as an excuse for her experience as you could make that same case about others as well.

My Pops Forever RIP
She needs to break the barrier with a college gig first of all imo. There's like 300 schools out there. Surprised a struggling P5 school or mid major hasn't given her a call yet. Pat Ewing and numerous others did it
That doesn't give any indicator of how well you'd do in the NBA. Most coaches who make that jump fail. Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens are crazy exceptions. Most coaches go the assistant route. The ones who bypassed all of that (Nash, Fisher, Kidd, Jackson, etc.) were former players

Ime Udoka got his first HC job and he only has 2 more years of similar experience to Hammon. Her time isn't far away. A lot of coaches put sometimes 2 decades in before they get their moment.

This is really not a big deal.

She isn’t entitled to a job.
If she’s so amazing and all that and the Spurs highly recommend her, then she might as well hang on and take over for Pop. And if the Spurs don’t see her as Pop’s replacement, maybe that signals something to other teams about just how qualified she might actually be.

Either way, keep it moving. Hopefully Becky Hammon gets a chance and shines but her hiring shouldn’t be inevitable just because she’s a woman.

Thibs was an assistant for 21 years before Arne Duncan talked Reinsdorf into giving him a look.

She'll be a coach soon but its crazy that the system is now seen as fukked up because she didn't get a job this year.

The media trying to force her into a job is some bs. If this was a black woman the complete opposite would be happening.

I feel like everyone else is making this a big deal but her, yet she gets the backlash.

I don't care about the there are assistant coaches waiting 15 plus years argument either. We see former NBA players getting head coaching jobs with less than that amount of experience of coaching.

When it's her time it will be her time

Blame the media and social media for that one by making it a travesty everytime she doesn't fill a head coaching vacancy. If anything, they're making matters worse than helping her situation.

Ole girl aint said a thing wrong

its all the crazy ass people who getting upset on her behalf for no reason

I don’t want to make the news because I’m the first female,” Hammon said. “At the end of the day, I want to make news because I’m hired for my qualifications. It was the original intent of Gregg Popovich when he hired me in 2014 — which is: ‘She added something to the group. She adds something to our team. I admire her mind and the way she looks at the game.’”

I'm just saying the women's coaching barrier needs being broken period even if it starts at the college level which isn't a bad thing imo. Not even saying a college gig will raise her chances of getting a NBA head coaching job as I highly doubt one of the big 4 professional billion dollar leagues in the U.S. is ever going to hire a woman head coach. It shouldn't be like this but that's what has been established of a hundred and some odd years in sports. It would be worldwide groundbreaking news and more than likely upstages the team. Highly doubt a NBA team would be prepared for that. I'm more or less just saying, "first things first" with women head coaches. I've always said Pat Summit should've switched over and coached the Tennessee Men's program after her 3rd or 4th women's title. It shouldn't be 'NBA or bust' for Hammond or any female coach coaching wise. Portland was bullsh*ting with her anyways.
