The idea that Giannis would sign an extension with the Spurs is preposterous. Every indication from every reasonable source in basketball journalism has linked Giannis to a large market like New York or Los Angeles.

If you’re Brian Wright you don’t make that trade unless you’re absolutely convinced it makes you a contender immediately. And there’s nothing in Wright’s history (or the Spurs) that suggests taking such a big risk.

That’s not to say that a trade for Giannis or Durant won’t happen. But it would signal a “chips all in” gamble in San Antonio. I struggle to see the wisdom in such a move for a 34-win team with an untested and largely unproven backcourt.

Kd need a ready now situation. He ness to go to any one of those Cali teams not based in Sacramento or Denver. All those are vet oriented teams who know what the plan is and how to execute/easily fit him in that offense
Despite what KD says publicly he doesn’t want to help either guy in GS/Lakers gets another ring.

Which leaves the Clippers & he’s already done the Harden move. KD is a hoopers hooper but I think he does still have an ego that will prevent him from going to a contender.

He’s tried to stack the deck twice now & failed.

We just watched the Suns miss the playoffs, the Lakers get bounced in rd 1, Dame and Giannis have yet to win a playoff series together and may never play together again and we still calling for squads to trade all their depth and youth for superstar...a 37 yr old superstar at that? Spurs could very well be OKC in a couple years. It's a new day...young talent and space/flexibility >>> old expensive nikkas limiting or completely eliminating all of that.

Any 3/4 players but Vic, Castle, and Fox plus number 2 pick for Greek. For KD they get the same deal but we send them the 14. Anybody asks for Castle gets the dial tone. If Vic name gets brought up at all you go to their house and fist fight em.

What are you Spurs nikkas projecting Castle to be:why:

This is sounding really JJ Hicksonish right now

He didn’t try to stack the deck. The Nets were him and Kyrie and young players. The Nets then sold the farm when Harden surprisingly became available. The Suns were nothing close to a super team. Part of me wants this guy to win again so people actually deal in reality and not narratives because they don’t like him. It’s like there’s just a bunch of bitter people salty about the Warriors dynasty who place it all on KD.

You out your god damn mind for that lol, Thunder are about to be champs and they’d trade Chet or JW for Giannis. Houston would part with Amen, and all three are significantly better prospects than Castle. If Castle was that raw then you should deal Fox

They don’t need to do any of that to acquire KD. I don’t know why people are operating under that assumption. People are making up trade parameters in their own heads. Look at what Jimmy Butler just went for. Yeah, KD’s better but he’s 36 and injury prone. They likely only need to trade Barnes, Vassell, pick number 14 and another player as filler along with another future first and some seconds.

Their line up would be Fox Castle 3 KD Wemby. And Harper off the bench with no pressure as a rookie. Anyone who doesn’t make that trade shouldn’t be a GM. It’s an actual sensible version of the two timeline plan GS tried.

strawman

you don't have to trade "all your depth and youth" to acquire KD at this point. You guys legit just make up shyt.

EDIT: Also the young talent on OKC isn't normal. They've made the playoffs as a 1 seed on mostly rookie contracts. The young guys on the spurs have been extension eligible (branham, wesley, Sochan) or have already been paid (Keldon, Vassell) and they're still nowhere near good enough to make the playoffs. OKC's young players take a big runny dump all over the Spurs guys

I remember earlier this seasonn the Spurs played OKC in the regular season. The spurs had one of their best shooting games in Franchise history and still got demolished. They're not good enough, plain and simple. And sitting idly by as Wemby's contemporaries get a ton of playoff experience because you don't wanna get off of the names I stated above is madness.

I think the Spurs should draft Harper and play out the season unless there's a deal for Giannis. KD is better suited on a team like the Knicks or Wolves.

THE REVISIONIST HISTORY
USED TO DIMINISH KD IS CRAZY....

KD/HARDEN/KYRIE
PLAYED 16 GAMES TOGETHER.

KD/BOOK/CP3/AYTON
PLAYED 17 GAMES TOGETHER
AND WERE THE ONLY TEAM
TO TAKE DENVER TO 6 GAMES
THAT POST SEASON.

IN BOTH SITUATIONS
THE GM/OWNER PULLED THE PLUG
EARLY AND KD WOUND UP
IN A WORSE PLACE

it's hilarious

i actually dont think the spurs have to lose Castle to get KD

but i've been seeing on Reddit that they would not trade for KD if it meant losing Jeremy Sochan :mjlol:
THAT's hilarious to me

Spurs get literally get off Vassell, Keldon, Sochan, the #14 pick in this draft and possibly a 2nd rounder to get KD, and STILL have a ton of assets to round out their roster to make it competitive

to be a playoff team in the West, if the last 2 seasons are any indication, you need to be a 48-win team at least. The spurs havent come close. You can argue they make the play-in before wemby's injury, but you still have to win 2 games in that case. That would be the Warriors or the Grizzlies or the Mavericks. Chances are the spurs werent going to win 2 straight.

In my head, there's no reason not to go for it. Spurs haven't come close to the playoffs in 6 years, and haven't been on a 5 game winning streak since 2019. I don't get the infatuation with guys like Vassell, Keldon, Sochan, Wesley, Branham etc. when it's been shown that they've been lapped in terms of young talent all decade
