No one is worried about anything and no one is complaining about anything. All the OP did was post a tweet.

However a lot of us basketball fans do believe the NBA product is flawed in many ways and the declining ratings suggest that perhaps the popularity of the league is waning.
So why are we posting threads about it, doggy? The OP is a well known Thunder fan. His motive is obvious.

As for the conspiracy theorists i decided a long time ago to :snooze: on these fukas because no matter what happens they always have an angle. Nothing can't be as simple as it seems with these cats.

The game was great and I love basketball, don't really care what the ratings were but I will clue you in on why people bring it up. There's a number of people here on the coli who think the NBA is more popular than it really is. I don't know why they care but they do and the numbers usually prove that it's maybe the third most popular behind of course the NFL and even college football. We have these idiotic revenue discussions all the time and people cannot fathom how baseball is still making billions and billions of dollars.

@EducatedBrothaFromTheBank is simply insecure and thinks if ratings are bad enough, the league gets canceled or something

The ratings for yesterday's game were better than game 1 of last year's finals. It will only increase as the series goes along. This is better than the NBA probably would have hoped.

was hoping someone on the coli posted the updated numbers....the advertisers are happy

Game 1 of Finals draws 9.0 rating
Updated: June 6, 2014, 9:09 PM ET
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- The San Antonio Spurs' victory over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night drew an average television audience of 14,846,000 viewers and a 9.0 national rating, Nielsen said Friday.

The average viewership on ABC was up 4 percent from 14,241,000 for last year's opening game between the teams and the rating was up 2 percent from an 8.8. The 9.0 rating matched the second-highest NBA Finals opener since 2004.

Nielsen Social said the game was the most-tweeted NBA game of the year with more than 3.2 million tweets. The game also was most-talked about television program of the day, accounting for 76 percent of all TV conversation on Twitter.

Game 2 is Sunday night.

There are more channels on tv now more then ever. Most people probably watch the last few minutes of a NBA game more then actual whole game.Anything over a 9 or 10 is great.

The channel excuse is a cop out when the NFL does enormous numbers. I know NFL is king, but that speaks more about the NBA's lack of popularity than anything else

NBA will be fine, one key thing is that the ratings for NBA games are always higher among younger people too, which indicates good things in the future for the NBA. Once these old white folks who think the NBA has too many "thugs" playing start dying off, ratings will be even better.
