I don't know if it's that simple; Norm was the top recruiter for Bill Self at Kansas, and he couldn't put a dent in recruiting. It might just be that most kids are wanting to leave the city. But still, as THE city program, you should have no trouble fielding a nice program.
the city programs are Manhattan and Iona :birdman:

and watch out for South Florida cuz they'll pillage NY for whatever is left since they now have Antigua and Strickland

Thing is, with all these schools in NYC not being what they once were for many reasons, it's like NY kids are already leaving the area at the high school level already.

Imagine Mark Jackson is offered the job?? :lupe:

And both those coaches would crawl from Riverdale and New Rochelle to Jamaica. Didn't know Orlando Antigua had taken the job. Him and Rod Strickland together? :lupe: They might create the ill pipeline from NY to Tampa.

I don't why he got fired, he did ok. It's not like SJ is Kansas or Duke, they don't have an illustrious pedigree. SJ is what is and will continue to be it, which is a very decent program.

Lavin actually won with Norm's Players.

DJ Kennedy doesn't blow out his ACL in the Big East Tournament and St. Johns makes make the Sweet 16.

Jakkar Sampson got better in 2 months prepping for the draft then he did at 2 Years at SJU.

Watch Harrison, Pointer, Rysheed Jordan and Obekpa be on a NBA Roster next season.

Lavin couldn't develop his players and he couldn't recruit these last 2 years. He went all in on Trying to get Isiah Briscoe and lost out to Kentucky and that was all she wrote. If he got Briscoe he would have gotten a 5 year extension on the spot.

Lavin tried to hit up anyone stuntin at Dyckman (Whitehead, Adonis-- he wound up getting him, Must See TV, Diallo), only to see Seton Hall get a bunch of guys from there

There never gonna be an elite program again this is who they are a mid tier team in a mid tier conference

Making the tourney 1 once every 3 or 4 years is who they are

The nyc pipeline thing is overrated..Maybe 2 or 3 kids a year in the top 100 are from nyc u can't rely on nyc kids to build a program anymore the talents not there

I'm really pulling for those cats. We need more Johnnies in the league. Only one right now is Moe Harkless down in Orlando.

i like the man, but he provided absolutely no depth after that big recruiting class he had. im sure the cancer played a big role in halting that momentum but the shyt was inexcusable playing 6 guys heavy mins. if he had won a tourney game he could of stayed, but dem the breaks.

I actually thought Dwight Hardy could play in the NBA :yeshrug:

D.J. Kennedy was on the Cavs too on a ten day a few years ago, thought he could stick around. :yeshrug:

Lavin did an excellent job recruiting, he helped changed the culture a bit as well, as others said his cancer hurt the program, D'Angelo's been a knuckle head, Rysheed Jordan's dealt with a lot from injuries to family losses.

I think D'Angelo Harrison makes an NBA team dude is too pure of a shooter, Obekpa's defense and athletic ability definitely translates to the next level could see both as 2nd Round picks or guys who make teams out the SL.

Ron Artest talking about he'd like to coach the team... :mjlol:
