i like the man, but he provided absolutely no depth after that big recruiting class he had. im sure the cancer played a big role in halting that momentum but the shyt was inexcusable playing 6 guys heavy mins. if he had won a tourney game he could of stayed, but dem the breaks.

He signed a 10 or 11 man recruiting class his first year but half transferred or were kicked off the team that was his downfall

Fordham I get. St. John's, I don't know about "impossible". I think you can win there, just not at the level where some people think. It has its challenges but doesn't have anything that would make it absolutely impossible to win.

Shaka ain't leaving VCU for SJU. St. John's ain't that kinda job any more. If and when Shaka leaves, it's gonna be for a powerhouse program. Mike Jarvis really set that program back.

What's the story with how it ended with Jarvis? I mostly remember St John's being really good during his time there. What went on at the end?

Fordham I get. St. John's, I don't know about "impossible". I think you can win there, just not at the level where some people think. It has its challenges but doesn't have anything that would make it absolutely impossible to win.

Thing is, Manhattan and Iona are stepping stone jobs...St Johns right now is just a get there and underachieve type of job. Just don't see the upside in it. Maybe they should finally apologize to Fraschilla and beg him to come back, idk.

Doomed or not by his alleged refusal to kiss the collective ring of local coaches, Jarvis was seen as an interloper who regarded St. John’s as a stepping-stone to a “better job.” This was the final straw. If you were a real New York guy, how could there be a better job than St. John’s?

My guess is that he was probably a little too outspoken in the past, maybe about decisions they had made. I know there was a group that was real salty about Matt Doherty not getting the job back in the day, I think when it went to Norm instead.
