20 years ago today not only did I cop it was written (aka the greatest rap album ever :ahh:) but I also coppped another classic in stakes is high.

We were eating good that week. :blessed:

One day I'd be listening to cinema on wax with it was written and the next it'd be listening to posdnous morph into the mad rapper shytting on the entire industry :pachaha: (by the way everything they said on that album still applies to this day).

Anyways lets show some love to the other classic that dropped 20 years ago today.

WHENS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD HAPPY DAYS?

:russ:baby won't you be my

you'll be pressin rewind :umad:

SIDENOTE:
this is what alotta lyricists forgot/ don't understand, it's not about being goofy, it's about being memorable. Even within lyrical verses it's the simplest lines that are the most recited.

Even cats that go to church it's the simplest stanzas that everyone chants off memory. The complex ones nikkas gotta open a hymn book or read a prompter. nikkas make this rap shyt more complex than it actually is

[These are the brakes]
A mother gets mugged by her crackhead son :usure:
"That's the brakes, that's the brakes"
You're in the wrong part of town so the shots make you run :damn:
"That's the brakes, that's the brakes"
Your best comrades put six tabs in your o.e :what:
"That's the brakes, that's the brakes"
Your boyfriend made you a carrier of HIV :mjcry:
"That's the brakes, that's the brakes"

Goddamn this was a super week for hip-hop

:wow:

I was just talking to someone yesterday about this...how when I was 16 I had a job that paid me every week. Cashed that check at the grocery store and when straight to this place downtown called the record shop. Every week a came out with at least one cd, sometimes 3 or 4...and I wasn't buying them just to buy them, it was just there were so many dope albums droppin back then.

I actually didn't like to buy more than one at a time because I wanted to fully absorb what I had bought and not be distracted with other music.

Good times.
