Still don't see why Gundy signed L. Galloway and big Bobanovich to those contracts, drafted Ellenson and took Johnson over Booker. Jackson's injuries made them panic and trade for Griffin, though I heard Gores signed off on it. Kennard could end up being good in the future though. Gotta look at a new Pres and GM before the new coach though.

They should have done this years ago before the bottom started to fall out in the Pistons organization. I when Van Gundy came in he had to clean up the mess that Dumars made after he was fired. Yeah Laimbeer has rings as coach in the WNBA and coaching men & women are different but he has championship pedigree behind his name.

SVG is a good coach who did the best he could with a lackluster roster. 39 wins for that Piston team was great.

he had 4 years and did nothing though(prob made things worst with the Blake trade). he also drafted poorly with passing on Mitchell being the final nail probably

He basically ran away from his own mess.
Them likely taking his GM responsibilities was a convenient excuse to dip...


He knows you can't build around Drummond, and his low motor and lack of any skill set offensively will be career long issues for him.

He knows Reggie Jackson is a bench player miscast as a starting PG.

He knows Blake is not nearly the same player he was years ago.


He also drafted Stanley Johnson and Luke Kennard...which will go down as two of the worst 1st round draft picks in franchise history. Stan is a solid coach who GM'd himself into an impossible spot and then ran away because he knows this shyt is all bad right now.

Im not saying he did a good job, just covering for my own L.

Bud was the only one who did relatively well holding both positions & the Hawks still stripped him of the POBO position. Stayed on as coach but at season's end they split completely.

You right - It's over for one person having dual responsibilities as HC & GM

SVG is a great person and an asset to whatever city he coaches in, i personally know people in orlando and detroit who run small community service type organizations that dude has reached out to and donated both time and money. He encourages his players to do the same and they listen.

With that said, he had no business being put in charge of our franchise. I dont want anybody from the orlando magic franchise mixing with us. Look what he did, tried to recreate the 09 magic team with Drummond instead of Howard. fukking idiot. Donovan Mitchell was a piston, he fits our identity. But kennard fits svg idea of a system, we used to torment his teams WTF would you name this guy to lead us??? Our team has turned into joke in nba circles just like the magic

He gave us a very entertaining year and a half, but knocked the franchise back another 4 years back into purgatory
