Carmelo/Amare, Knicks

Never really clicked. May have been coaching. Could have been ideal for pick-and-rolls considering their skillsets, but that wasn't really in D'Antoni's coaching repertoire.

BTW, prime Amare would absolutely EAT in this era.

Pick and roll with Amare is DEFINITELY in D Antonio’s repertoire. That’s on Melo.

Amare being hurt 75 percent of melo’s tenure in NY is the reason it didnt work

Melo was out there playing with bill walker and Jared Jeffries cause Amare hurt himself dunking in the lay up line

Amare was washed after year 1 in NY (him and Melo played like a 1/3 of that season together) and it just got progressively worse from there
Wasn't anything to do with them fitting, he just wasn't even anything close to an all star level player anymore by year 3

Webber/Iverson
Again, this is an injury thing
Webber wasn't anywhere close to the same player after the knee injury
I know his numbers weren't terrible on paper his first full season with AI but that shyt was fools gold, CWebb was literally out the fukking league not even 2 full years later he was so cooked

How do you define “star?” Is it someone who’s a perennial all star? Made an all star team? Made an all NBA team?

I’m gonna take it that the players at least were stars at the same time, not one was a star and the other was a rookie, old or injured.

George McInnis (RIP) and Julius Irving is a forgotten HOF duo that struggled together with the Sixers, aka the OG Super Team. They made the finals and even went up 2-0 before getting back door swept by Portland and ending their time together.
