Brehs, this show is the real deal. The characters are fun and diverse, a couple of interesting plotlines (the war, tech, mystery, Burnham's redemption, etc). I like how they said fukk IT, this is a horror show halfway through the ep.

I know it's too early to crown it but Discovery has the potential to be the best Trek ever.

Or the more obvious reason: sci fi done on the level they’re doing is expensive. The other reason is, from what I’ve heard on Star Trek podcasts, the regime at cbs has never been big on Star Trek. They tolerate it lol but it’s never been their go to baby. They wanted to take advantage of it though because it’s a valuable IP so they want that value to translate to new subscribers for their streaming service. A service they desperately need to start paying off for them. Star Trek is the kid they want to ignore but can’t because it does so well in school

Those scenes on the USS Glenn Had me on the edge of my seat... when they found the one living Kilgon at first I thought it was a Borg Drone but the Kilgon telling them to be quiet only to be eaten by that unknown creature was great tv.
