When I win I bring we with me
Recently re-watched this after like 10 years since last viewing and forgot just how good it is.
:wow:
Way better than the shytty second trilogy from the 90/2000s with Jar-Jar Binks and shyt.

This and Empire Strikes Back are the top two films in the entire saga.

:yeshrug:

I'll never understand folks issues with the prequels :francis: ....These new Disney shyts:hubie:I gotcha :ehh: but the prequels were always fine to me.:yeshrug:

EDIT:
The only things that ever threw me off on the prequels were....
  • The kids acting at certain parts in episode 1
  • The ships looking new despite being set in the past
  • "Noooooooooo!!!!!!!"
....everything else was butter.

The prequels were trash, bad acting, bad CGI, plot holes, unnecessary scenes

I don't know if I just made a thread about this, but I rewatched for first time a month or so ago in about 4-5 years. The big thing I never noticed is Star Wars is about the arrogance of imperial power. How they've been running shyt for so long they just feel like they can snuff a crawler full of jawas or kill some farmer and it doens't even mean a thing. Even when Grand Moff Tarkin is told "hey man this attack plan might be legti :lupe:" he hits his aide with the :pachaha::camby:. They just couldn't imagine anyone could touch them. Even mob bosses know *anybody* can get got :banderas:

Again I didn't take any of that away from watching the prequals. At this point I can only assume people shyt on the prequels cause they think they are "suppose to" or it gives them some weird version of "cool points". :yeshrug:

Again my only issues were.....

Now obviously folks are free to and will hold opinions outside of mine:hubie: but....

The OG Star Wars saga is still a top 2 trilogy in film history.

You forget how good this movie is after all these years. One thing I can appreciate a lot more as an adult was the morality behind it. Star Wars is basically good vs. evil 101. The heroes are heroes, and you see them protecting people, fighting bad guys, etc. The villains are villains. You see them doing bad things so you don't like them. It's just clean, simple storytelling that works.
Think back to the 80s and early 90s... every little kid you knew (that was worth knowing) grew up wanting to be Luke Skywalker, or Han Solo, or Lando.

I can't picture any kid wanting to be Finn :scusthov:

On a side note, people need to hop off that nostalgia wave for the Prequels. Those movies aren't good.
Episode 3 is alright, but even that movie has serious issues with excessive CG, terrible dialogue, and all of the Jedi being idiots anytime Palpatine is involved. RotS is by far the most overrated film in the franchise as far as I'm concerned.

It's still better than The Last Jedi though :hubie:

That Movie is only rated due to nostalgia, matter of fact the entire star wars franchise is only rated due nostalgia.

The original movies are GOAT tier.

The prequels are poorly written, but you can at least see a plot arc throughout the trilogy. The new Disney sequel trilogy is disjointed and tries hard to subvert expectations, except it doesn't do it well.

I heard someone say that George Lucas is a great writer, but a terrible screenwriter. And I agree. Imagine if he laid out the story arc of the prequel trilogy for some better writers to craft a script.

1. It wasn't till recently I caught how relevant lando was to the trilogy, some YouTube guy went in on lando and I was like "fukk'n lando":mjtf: "what he do":stopitslime:. I missed that he lead the assault on on the death star and blew it up from the inside. I went back and watched over the summer and was like shyt:ohhh: he did more than I remember :ehh:. The fact that he was only in like 2 episodes made me categorize him as not a main character so I pretty much disregarded everything he did after leaving sky city.:yeshrug:

2. They did finn dirty, tho it does make the events in EP9 make more sense....

3. Stop it:comeon: If you personally don't like the prequals fine :hubie: but trying to paint some "nostalgia wave" on a persons appreciation for the prequels is nonsense. :hhh:

That's like someone saying
"people need to hop off that nostalgia wave for the original trilogy. Those bad rubber suit, jerky stop motion, and all of the Palpatine being an idiot anytime skywalkers are involved movies aren't good"

People appreciating OG trilogy aren't ignoring dated special effects and odd narrative choices anymore than folks appreciating the prequel. It's that the particular person simply appreciates the entire package more than any other negatives. It's as simple as that. Nostalgia is just that, anything that's held up solely by Nostalgia falls away when that person brings the media into a current context. And the final package of EP1-6 still holdup in this current context for some folks.(I know I personally watched all 6 over the summer and enjoyed them the same)

If it doesn't work for you then, hey:yeshrug: that's on you:ehh:

The kicker is that Lucas gave those jokers an EP.7-9 outline that Disney just stashed in the vault some place and did their own thing.
(tho it looks like they pulled some material/ideas out of it)
