The Prequels were fine.

The new shyt is trash.

OG trilogy was ground breaking and all that but I feel sad when I watch Anakin vs Obi part 2 where they fight like they are both 95 years old (the scene where Obi is killed by slo mo Vader)

shyt like that just sucks the air out of the movie for me. I much prefer some Yoda with the saber action. Darth Maul. Anakin vs Obi pt 1 in the lava video game mode.

Watched all three at the movies when they were released. Then rented to video's..all I can say those original versions that played on the theatre were great and fun. Then the new edits, added scenes followed prequels..and wack sequels

No thanks.

Have they ever released the original cuts on DVD?

Id like to see them as they were originally released. The new CGI make then more accessible, I guess, but damn can we get an original cut???

I'm not too sure. The original VHS were the theatre cut also the original TV versions.
Then the new edit versions came out in the 90's and that became the new VHS and dvd sets.

1. It wasn't till recently I caught how relevant lando was to the trilogy, some YouTube guy went in on lando and I was like "fukk'n lando":mjtf: "what he do":stopitslime:. I missed that he lead the assault on on the death star and blew it up from the inside. I went back and watched over the summer and was like shyt:ohhh: he did more than I remember :ehh:. The fact that he was only in like 2 episodes made me categorize him as not a main character so I pretty much disregarded everything he did after leaving sky city.:yeshrug:

Yeah, Lando is easy to overlook but he actually lowkey had a dope arc. He started off by ratting the heroes out to save his people from the Empire, but he found his conscience and turned on them in the end. He ultimately went on to blow up the Death Star afterwards.

2. They did finn dirty, tho it does make the events in EP9 make more sense....

:mjcry: Finn should have been that dude. I'm not even tight that he wound up not being the main character. They didn't have to turn him into the Yamcha of Star Wars though. :snoop:

3. Stop it:comeon: If you personally don't like the prequals fine :hubie: but trying to paint some "nostalgia wave" on a persons appreciation for the prequels is nonsense. :hhh:

That's like someone saying
"people need to hop off that nostalgia wave for the original trilogy. Those bad rubber suit, jerky stop motion, and all of the Palpatine being an idiot anytime skywalkers are involved movies aren't good"

People appreciating OG trilogy aren't ignoring dated special effects and odd narrative choices anymore than folks appreciating the prequel. It's that the particular person simply appreciates the entire package more than any other negatives. It's as simple as that. Nostalgia is just that, anything that's held up solely by Nostalgia falls away when that person brings the media into a current context. And the final package of EP1-6 still holdup in this current context for some folks.(I know I personally watched all 6 over the summer and enjoyed them the same)

If it doesn't work for you then, hey:yeshrug: that's on you:ehh:

Sorry breh, but I can't agree on this one. The OG trilogy are objectively better written, better acted, and better directed movies than any of the Prequels. There were also other creative forces besides Lucas that helped with the dialogue and preserving the chemistry between the actors, so the emotional resonance was on a different level from the prequels.
Episode 3 is still watchable, but even that one isn't seeing the OG's. Those overly perfect, overchoreographed video-game lightsaber duels :patrice:

To be honest, the suits and animatronics in the originals aged better than the CGI at the time. CG ages like milk if we want to really keep it a buck. (Same reason those first two Ninja Turtles movies still look better than the new ones :salute: )

Redletter Media ethered that whole prequel trilogy IMO. It's a dope concept that wasn't executed well. As much as those prequels aren't the best movies though, I'll give them props for at least introducing a handful of dope characters, a solid cartoon, and for having a clear gameplan. You knew where they were trying to go with it, which is more than you can say for the Disney trilogy.
