I'm glad Daisy being given another chance. She has alot of untapped potential. Problem is there's no guarantee this wont go out like the Marvels did. In fact, thats the most likely route.

Movie will be trash

Fans will complain

Will still cross a billion easily
No it won't, there is ZERO hype for this from the fanbase...

Last time the fanbase lacked hype for a SW movie was Solo and that not only flopped, its first SW movie to ever lose money...

This will flop harder than Solo did...

I think that she is neck-to-neck with Gal Gadot for being the worst actress to somehow inexplicably achieve mainstream blockbuster film prominence in the last 15 years.

At least Gal has the supermodel background (folks think that she is attractive for some reason)+ being a "member of the tribe" going for her. Daisy is the picture book definition of "Basic White Girl" in looks/personality/charisma/screen presence/etc.

Neither can act for shyt. Just in the wrong profession entirely.

How about being the first to make a non-trash modern SW film?

Before y'all complain just thought I'd remind you that ain't nothing wrong with Rey naming herself Skywalker because even Anakin himself isn't a Skywalker. They both were conceived by the machinations of Darth Plagueis and Palpatine.

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is gonna be the first Pakistani woman to direct a major franchise. Good to see the come up!

Daisy Ridley is set to return as Rey in a New Jedi Order movie that will finally fulfil a four-year-old promise from Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy. The future is bright for Star Wars, with the franchise set to finally return to the big screen over the next few years. One of the most exciting movies will star Daisy Ridley's Rey as founder of a New Jedi Order. This will be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, best known for her history as a documentarian and journalist.

Little is known about Rey's New Jedi Order movie at present. It's been confirmed to be set 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, with the galaxy struggling to decide whether it still wants the Jedi after the chaos of the last few decades. What is exciting, though, is that the New Jedi Order movie will make history for Star Wars - in the best possible way.

Kathleen Kennedy Has Been Promising A Female Star Wars Director For Years
Kathleen Kennedy and Millennium Falcon.
Women have been shaping Star Wars since the start; viewers tend to underestimate the contribution of George Lucas' ex-wife, Marcia Lucas. Leigh Brackett wrote the first draft for The Empire Strikes Back, although she sadly died of cancer before the screenplay was finalized. Kiri Hart was a producer on Star Wars Rebels, Carrie Beck has worked on several Star Wars TV shows, and Deborah Chow, Steph Green, and Leslye Headland have all directed TV shows. But no woman has ever directed a Star Wars movie.

Back in 2000, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy promised it wouldn't be long before a woman directed Star Wars. Speaking at the BAFTAs, Kennedy pointed to the women already shaping the franchise; "We've got two or three fantastic women working with Star Wars," Kennedy said, "And we just brought in Deborah Chow who is doing the Obi-Wan series." When asked if a Star Wars movie will get a female director soon, Kennedy added, "Oh absolutely. Without question." Soon, of course, took longer than anyone expected - because the movies were essentially put on hiatus for a while.

The Problems That Led To Star Wars Having A 7-Year-Gap Between Movies

It's not unusual to see the push for diversity behind the camera reduced to some sort of tick-box exercise. That completely fails to understand the point, though; there's a crucial reason diversity is good in this kind of situation. It's because - although Star Wars is principally George Lucas' baby - the fanbase and the franchise have always been so much bigger than white men. It's time for us to have a variety of voices, from a range of different perspectives, so the galaxy can continue to expand.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order - Cast, Story, Timeline & Everything We Know
Obaid-Chinoy will surely bring something fresh and unique to Star Wars. It's not just the fact she's a woman; her cultural and cinematic background is different as well, and this presumably informs a pitch so fresh that it drew Ridley back to Star Wars. The last few years have seen Star Wars begin to expand beyond Western voices, with the phenomenal animated shorts of Star Wars: Visions, and the future looks brighter than ever before with Rey's New Jedi Order movie.

Star Wars: New Jedi Order
The tenth mainline installment in the Star Wars franchise is the first movie to follow the sequel trilogy, where Mark Hamill's Luke, Carrie Fisher's Leia, and Harrison Ford's Han Solo gave their final farewell. After the release of The Rise of Skywalker, development on a direct sequel had become dormant as Disney shifted focus on other parts of the galaxy, namely, Disney+ shows such as The Mandalorian, Andor, and Ahsoka. However, a movie starring Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023.

Anakin isn’t a Skywalker? That’s his mother’s last name so how isn’t he one? Rey just borrowed the name cause she had that weird thing with Ben.
