This is bullshyt. Rian didn't put Luke on the island hidden away from everyone. That was JJ's decision. Rian had to come up with a reason why Luke would be hiding out while the resistance is losing the war and Snoke/Ren are taking over the galaxy.

Heroic ending? Rian came up with the bullshyt that Luke was considering to kill Ben in his sleep because he sensed some dark side of the Force in him.

Luke could've been hiding for many reasons, even as simple as his own shame for not being able to keep Ben from the dark side or save his students. The decision to make Luke almost entirely responsible for pushing Ben to the dark side is the worst in the entire trilogy.

I get people complaining about Palpatine being back with a fleet of planet killing Star Destroyers, and it is lazy writing, but TLJ was a complete character assassination of Luke Skywalker and I refuse to accept anyone acting like that film isn't a huge fukking problem in its own right.

The Resistance is down to a handful of ships and troops and planets are getting wiped off the fukking map and Snoke/Ren/Hux are taking over the galaxy and you think that's a heroic decision for Luke to take him off the chessboard and placed on an island that nobody can find.

lol, I'm not defending Rise Of Skywalker, breh. I just feel that people have started to give Rian a pass for decisions made in TLJ because JJ set some shyt up and left, and I don't agree because Rian could have made different (better) decisions.

That’s not excusing all the lazy writing of this last film, I'm just saying that if people shyt on these films, they should shyt on all three of them and not make it a JJ vs Rian thing.

The same dagger was also used to kill Rey’s parents by Palpatine’s goon

Maybe they'll learn from their mistakes here when it comes to making the inevitable 4th trilogy.

- Keep the execs out of it for the most part and find some enthusiastic, talented writers/directors to build an actual planned out story.

- You can bring back a few old characters but don't use them as a crutch.

Maybe they could just completely redo this trilogy - use Luke and Han for a few short scenes in the first film for continuity and then make a Kylo Ren based trilogy where his character actually does something interesting. It could either be a prequel to these new films or a straight up redo.

Or just all new characters. Just get some writers who actually give a shyt.

It's a shame because theres some good things about this trilogy. Daisy Ridley is a great lead and should have been given more to do. You always felt like Finn should have had more too, either the romance with Rey or he could have learnt the force or had some conflicted loyalty to Kylo, anything that would have elevated him from the position of bytch.
