It didnt "replace" Sierra Mist, it IS Sierra Mist.

Yep, the drink industry learned their lesson from "New Coke". They no longer annoucing a new recipe anymore, they'll instead just "retire" the old drink and bring out a new similar one. But what they are doing is still the same thing. All they did was change the sierra mist recipe a little bit and relaunch it.
If this flops, they'll change the recipe back and later announce "Sierra Mist has returned!"
