The thing about working for cacs and Asians is that you don't have to stay there. Blacks should treat every job like an internship or an apprenticeship. Got your knowledge from them at their expense and do your own thing.

I agree...the entitlement sometimes is :scust:

People want to work for a black owned black service industry that lets them browse the coli all day and pays 100k a year...

Work where you can, build some savings and experience and then do the entrepreneur thing (which most people won't because it's a huge risk)

I just turned 29 in July...finished my MBA last month and have a good amount of savings :blessed: so I'm about to go to a 100% commission job and take a huge risk while trying to start a business on the side. Most of which wouldn't have been possible if I didn't "work for a cac" in an established company through most of my 20s

I noticed a lot of the people who went independent worked for others before. It's standard. Anyway I just posted the link for brehs-ettes to consider

I'm working at a startup right now. Nothing but whites/Asians in the building, 3.5 brehs and me. Ended up in a power struggle not long after I officially started because this cavewoman was trying to treat me like her maid rather than someone with their own job to do. Psuedo breh who works over me tryna rent me out to do her work like a slave :martin: I took it to the founder like:childplease: He calmed me down, but after that I was in :pacspit: mode mentally. It's like that Chapelle sketch. White people will drive you crazy, if you let 'em, and then act :merchant: when you demand respectful treatment.

Con: If you're black, you have to be up front and establish what you will and won't be doing or else you're going to be dealing with bullshyt.:francis:
Con: The lack of defined roles. If you're too productive, they'll have your black ass doing everything. You miss one thing and it's

Con: The lack of diversity. Startups are more racist than your average bear. Everyone's 12 years old and liberal but they're also:mjpls:

Con: Benefits suck. No overtime and you make less than you would in a stable company for some damn ping pong and no dress code:snoop:

Pros: Connections. It's easy to network. Everyone's connected to someone who works for some hugely successful tech company.:ehh:
Pros: You can learn a lot. A lot of these startups are straight:trash: but many founders know the ins and out of getting funding. I legit take notes:jbhmm:

Pros: Things are flexible, which can either work for or against you. Show when you want or don't show up at all as long as you get work done. :jawalrus:

Con: Things are flexible. You may get hit up on days that you're off. It's like everyone tries to trick you into thinking it's your company too:scust:

Absolutely, there's no permanency for us. I'm already about to start applying for new jobs and I've just started. I'm learning and saving as much as I can, but I want to line up some options so by December, if the founder isn't willing to renegotiate my salary, I'm onwards and upwards:cape:

Don't ever get too comfortable, friends, put yourself in a position where you can move on, if need be. Helps you to keep that:birdman: attitude.
