Season 7 is the last decent season.
Pretty good show so far, nothing mind blowing but I like the thriller mystery, aspect of it, didnt the breaking bad director produce for this show@hexagram23

that Mulder never fukked Scully even though she was down. That shyt looked mad incestuous

There were some slow bad epps towards the end, but X files is classic all the war around.

It doesn't really fall off.The later seasons aren't as good cause mulder dipped for a bit.

just wasn't the same without Mulder. Even duchovny regrets leavin the show so early. shyt could have gone on for another 3-4 seasons.

is every episode a stand-alone or is it like one big mystery that concludes towards the end of a season?
Most episodes are stand alones, the main storylines are about the aliens
Hexagram aka Vince Gilligan himself will be here any minute. Tell these youngsters about your work especially the Unusual Suspects episode which is classic and made X-Files and Homicide exist in the same universe. This show doesn't start to fall off until around season 7 by the way but its still amazing through and through.
