This wasn't the biggest pop record but it was all over people's whips and rap radio. :mjcry:One of the most ingenious hooks of all time. :wow:French really carried the "King of Hooks" mantle for those years after Max went away, now I rarely hear him on one.

I was hoping we got another collab between these three. :sadcam: Post-2014 been the wackest era in rap, with the most homo shyt to boot. :dame: Take Soulja Boy then literally multiple by 1000, that's what rap is right now. Bunch of children running around producing one-hitters. Used to be you had to put in work before blowing up, now you can rap for 2 years and have a catalog of 3 songs before you blow up. I refuse to listen to any rapper unless they have a BODY of work.
He got the hook from Nas.

You the fifth guy to point that out.

U like the 2012 song more. Meaning the overall package. Which is cool. But the hook is exactly the same. Nothing added. Nothing removed.

They flipped it a lil bit, added more lines.

NAS:
Stay scheming
nikkas wanna get at me
Stay scheming
nikkas wanna kidnap me

The first line's flow is identical but the rest of the lines' delivery French's is catchier.

FRENCH (ROSS):
Stay schemin'
nikkas tryna get at me, DAWG!
(I ride for my nikkas)
Stay schemin'
nikkas tryna get at me, DAWG!
(I ride for my nikkas)

I ain't tryna take Nas' credit away, he wrote the original but I always forget Nas' one existed. Trust me I've listened to that track years ago whenever this song discussion comes up and I forget bout it. But the 2012 version's is catchy from the first line to last.

French took the flow of the first line and continues it to the next line, its a dragging flow. Nas' second line has a more pop/upbeat flow, reminds me of the band Sugar Ray's single back in the day "When it's over". The French version is more bleek/sinister.

Son. It's the same exact line. With some adlibs. Lol. The only reason French's sounds more sinister is cause of the beat. It's slow and more sinister sounding and French had to make it match the tempo. U giving this nikka way too much credit for the hook fam. Lol

Forgot bout this, but the way French delivered it was something really hard to point your finger on. Like it sounded off but at the same time sounded so good. I gotta give Nas his credit tho for coming up with the first half of the lyrics but its not as addicting as the 2012 version.
French verse short but fire too :hubie:

From the hoopty coupe to that Ghost, dawg
Pigeons on the roof like Ghost Dog
Dwight Howard on the post, dawg
My nikkas got the powder through the post, dawg
Watch the body tilt when you hit the head
nikkas lost mill's tryna beat the feds
Ten grams off my last 250 now
Big-ass crib, 250 down, damn!
Gave my nikka Max 7-5
Then gave my nikka Penthouse another 30
fukk it, got me thinkin' like I'm 7-5
Damn, nikka ain't even seen 30

Felt every line :wow:

It’s a 10/10 song, classic.

Voice matters and it’s why French been such an effective hook man

And ain’t Nas get it from Kurtis Blow?

Stop arguing over semantics.
