I thought 2016 Steph curry showed us you can have a MVP season where you look like a top 5 ever, just to have it crashing down on you with one shotIf you still believe this after the past half decade or so, you’re not really thinking at all. Spurs and Dubs have shown that FMVPs just need to show up when they’re asked. You can be “the best player in the finals” without even being the best player on your team mate.
Now when anybody thinks about your unanimous mvp season, all they think about is 3-1. The off season was spent talking about, not your incredible season, but that bullshyt narrative that you needed KD to beat lebron.
Leonard eventually became the best player on the spurs and a much needed asset after his FMVP btw.

Finals mvp holds more weight because you were the best player in the most important series in this league. You were the best player on a team that was the best out of your conference, going aganist the best out of the other conference. Give me finals mvp over season mvp anyday.
