Breh I know damn well Kobe brought Brandy to the prom :comeon:

What I'm saying is that back then some media was already on his case because he was acting like a star before even being a rookie and managing to get his way to the Lakers in place of Divac, a proven vet. This is the first time in 20 years of following the NBA I hear someone call Kobe "a golden boy". Whole lot of people wanted him to fail.

he's always been arrogant. and the media always roasts players that have their hand in forcing trades, especially rookies. but at the same time, he was crowned the 2nd coming very early...and he always had the looks and intellect...and came off safe to the media. he was definitely a media darling in the nba. he didnt come to the dark side til he came in that white girls dark side...you feel me?!?!

You missed a bulletpoint

op did say "golden boy" double entendre for his skin tone and personality type:lolbron:

until he goes to the club or hangs out with the wrong rapper he'll get caught in a sex scandal soon enough :francis:

i hope steph continues his success...but a big part of me hopes he gets caught up in something that makes white people mad. like..turns out he has a massive fur collection in his closet....or he starts kickin it with those hebrew isrealites in san francisco and they got him on a soap box callin white folks devils n shyt

honestly man i dont think lebron was ever portrayed as this golden boy. kind of like shaq and jordan. great athletes. monster endorsements. but they were never golden boys and we all knew that.
MJ was and will always be the NBA's #1 golden boy no matter what. The Jumpman logo will be on every jersey in a couple of years:mjshrug23:

How much more open can a guy changing his name from Ferdinand Alcindor, Jr. to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar be?

Or how about Shawn "The Enormous Mormon" Bradley? :troll:

I'm from Oakland and him and Klay Thomas have always kinda creeped me out.

Jordan was kind of seen as a golden boy. I know that today when all of these stories come to light of how much of a competitive, treacherous a$$hole he was/is, but even as a kid when we watched the Gatorade Commercials and Space Jam, dude was marketed as Golden Boy...
