Nah. Last year Buddy Hield became the fastest player to hit 1000 3's. Donovan Mitchell is on pace to break that

Wilt set his record decades ago and none have come within sniffing distance of them still
They don't and won't have the volume to touch him. If he retired this year yes but nobody is going to make 4000 3PT for a while.

Steph will have well over 4000 3's when he retires. Crazy though with the way the game is going I could easily see someone breaking his record sooner than later. But we all know he's the greatest shooter ever and was YEARS ago.

I know records are meant to be broken and all, but I'm having a hard time seeing somebody breaking the record he'll eventually finish with.

It's the insane combination of volume AND efficiency. He's shooting 12+ threes per game and hitting over 40% of them. Even more crazy, the 40% mark is BELOW AVERAGE for him. He's basically still reeling off threes while in a shooting slump.

I think he'll own this record for a while, like Stockton on the all-time assist lead I really don't see him being passed

There is always a "fastest to ______" in all sports.

They almost always come up short in the long run

Yes they do and yes they will. Harden is going to retire #2 all time with possibly over 3k and unless Donovan Mitchell forgets how to shoot, he'll blow past that by the end of his career

A vast majority of Wilt's records are nigh impossible to even reach let alone beat

No they don't and won't. Curry has been shooting 10-14 3s a game for 6 years now and has time left. 4K is conservative. Donovan Mitchell is not touching Curry.

Yup, the efficiency at that volume is the big thing. It's what makes him special

Are you just making comments to be a contrarian? Harden is shooting LESS threes while Curry's volume is going up.

Mitchell forgetting how to shoot isn't the issue; he would have to get significantly better. He'd need about 10 years just to get to where Curry is NOW. Not even counting how many more Steph will add before he's done.
