I can see why they do it to be honest. If there were no caps then teams like the Lakers, Knicks, and Golden State would dominate because of location and the money they make. Basketball is different from other sports in that talent beats any plan you can come up with. In other sports, with the right game plan you can beat anyone. Basketball also has finite people to play because its dependent on height. Trust me, a cap is for the best because it benefits everyone. I wouldn't watch a sport with 3 teams winning every fukking time.

You can have a cap and still not limit what someone makes (within the cap)

If we had a hard cap of say 140 mil

Guys like Durant, Steph, LeBron would get 50-60 mil while guys like jrue holiday would get 12-15 mil

Now Curry is capped at 40 mil while the jrue holidays of the world get 25-30 mil a year

If they get rid of Max contracts( Which they should) It will create the obvious problem of 2nd and 3rd tier stars getting overpaid which will be a subject of constant complaints on here

If Curry is getting 60 million. You better believe someone would pay Derozan 55 million if they have the cap space and he's available.
