I saw what Stephen said I think his overall point was that blacks have to be mindful of appearance if we want to succeed in this society and also think SAS was defending Cuban's right to make the point of prejudices existing cause it does on both sides

I agree to certain extent but hoodies is such an everyday type of clothing. People wear it to gyms, they wear it to classes, they wear it when they are going for a normal walk. I think people who find black people with hoodies as threatening should just come out and admit that they find black people threatening.

He is glorifying liberal Republicans. Republicans at that time were not the conservative sort you find now. The presidential shift in party structure took effect before the congressional shift. Presidential shifted with JFK. Congress shifted by the end of the decade. George Wallace and Strom Thurmond were southern Democrats for example.
After the 60's, the south abandoned the democrat party, and took their conservative views to the Republicans.

The c00nage occurred in finding a way to glorify the Republican party, who has systematically made it clear that they do not care about the welfare of black americans. The Democratic party, while not perfect, at least support civil rights initiatives. The same can not be said of the Grand Ole Party.

His rhetoric on the show makes sense now that he is out as a Republican.

I hope that answered your inquiries sir.

no, i just think people are missing my point. im not saying what cuban said is right, i'm saying it brings up a bigger point that needs to be addressed. for the last time, I UNDERSTAND WHAT CUBAN SAID IS WRONG, AND IT IS A FALSE EQUIVALENCY, IT'S WHY HE SAID IT THAT IS THE POINT. there are tons of underlying things here.

Your way off on many of your points so I will do my best to educate you young brotha....

The presidential shift of blacks (those who could vote) voting for straight democrats actually started after the great depression during the FDR era due to the creation of New Deal programs which was the foundation of welfare programs that are popular for democrats to this very day to campaign on to keep black folk voting for them. Democrats solidified the black base in '64 and '65 due to Martin Luther King posing with LBJ as he signed the civil rights and voting rights act. Also if you take a look at the voting record of those piece of legislation it was passed by both democrats and republicans overwhemingly in the House. Now that the history is set straight let us talk about the Democrats and republicans of today.

Its no secret the republicans dont care and seek to cut many public domestic programs in favor of the private market forces..When you study actual fiscal conservative policy their isnt anything racist about it since whites benefit the most from welfare programs. You could make the case that the republicans believe in tax cuts for the rich, most rich people are white, so therefore its racists policy but Democrats also believe in this..All you have to do is look at the votes in the House of democrats during the Reagan and George W administration on tax policy...You should also study policy as it relates to bailouts which essential is a waste of tax payer dollars but democrats believed in these type of policiesin from '06 to 10 and voted for it including Barack Obama..I could go on but I dont want to lose your attention but the point is that there really isnt a difference between democrats and republicans when it relates to actual policy.. maybe a little bit in rhetoric for campaign purposes but not the way they vote and legislate ( See Obama on his rhetoric about closing Gitmo and not using drones during the '07 - '08 campaign)

So SAS is right, blacks voting straight democrat for the last 70 years has led to democrats taking the black vote for granted which is why other than making noise about food stamps they dont really do anything as it relates to what really effects blacks and when they do they fukk up and make things worse (see no child left behind act and subprime mortgage crisis.)

I get your point, I really do, but my pops use to say something that I never understood until I was an adult...."pain produces perspective". And historically, in this country, no one besides native Americans have been put through more pain than blacks so yea it's going to be offensive when a white man says something as inflammatory as what Cuban said. He may be trying to say one thing but from our perspective, what we hear is he only see blacks as one thing...Threatening...even if it is wearing something as common as a hoodie. We are more than that and for him to just give an over arching example as that is offensive as shyt. That's like me saying I don't go into the Hart Senate office building because when I see old white men in suits, I see a bunch of crooks due to how I view them thru my own prism. Then the fact that he tried to cushion it by giving something as extreme as a tatted up faced white guy only makes it worse

i dont want to derail this thread, but if it has been shown that republican's do not have the black americans best interests in heart, why support them? why come out and advocate like they actually give a fukk about us?

Politics is all about power, not morals so with that said if you feel republicans do not have black americans BEST interest at heart thats great...But why do you think democrats have black americans BEST interest at heart? Because they take the side of blacks when racist events happen? lol thats not having any BEST interest at heart thats pandering for votes.. if democrats really had black americans BEST interest at heart they would address the economic disparities between whites and blacks in their policy platform but they dont and their is a very clear reason for that but im not sure if you see it yet.. keep living and you will
