Phil didnt con Melo. Melo wanted his money and he got it. If he wanted to win he would have gone to CHI or even HOU or LAL. All had cap for max player.

He should have been at the predraft workouts, but people blaming Phil for the Knicks miss seem to missing the gigantic point that Phil is still trying to fix what he inherited, not what he made. JR was done in New York, he wasn't playing well or hard. Melo's injuries were unfortunate, but they needed a good pick. A 4th overall pick is still better than being an 8th seed and getting swept in the playoffs, so they're still better off now than they could have been.
