What is wrong with what he said? He's not saying blacks need to be Republicans. He's saying blacks need to show that their vote needs to be WORKED for or they are willing to vote elsewhere. That's why Democrats can ignore blacks or give them minimal benefits in comparison to other groups-- they already know the black vote is locked in.
Somebody gets it

Between this and Common, why do we need to be apologists for be disenfranchised. All we want to do is be accepted but I'm not go to extend my hand first as if I'M wrong. fukk that. I had to no choice in being black, though I love that I am. It's forced me to see life in different lights. I didn't grow up privileged. I earned everything I've ever received. I've never brown nosed to a teacher/employer and I'm sure as hell not going to do it now for acceptance of my skin color. If not for anything else, it'd force me to get on my grind, outwork and outshine you so that my talent can't be denied.

I'd rather folks just boycotted instead of actively voting for republicans. People like to trivialize the differences between parties and say both sides are bad. Neither side is good.

But there is no fukking reason a black American should be voting republican. They give absolute zero fukks about you. Negative fukks for real
That's the thing. Blacks may vote 96% dem...but if we dont like someone, it's 96% of a small number yet fools still complain.

SAS is a fool to think Republicans are an answer to Democrats and their tomfoolery...

What can't be life? Standing behind the statement that blacks need to make the parties COMPETE for their vote instead of being a Democrat shoe-in? If you think any of these political parties are your buddies, Democrats included, then you are mistaken. You get benefits by making the party work for your vote. As far as

there is a lot wrong with what he said....we can show in other ways our votes matter/need to be worked for instead of voting republican for an election...doesnt he realize the affect that would have on our lives and the lives of future generations cause of the laws, regulations, etc that get passed in that term; will be a lot more impactful than that message of us saying to dems 'get on your shyt'?...and the fact he tried to compare that to something as simple as shopping at a different store, smh...seriously, that shyt is fukking stupid....it's worse than common saying 'blacks need to extend a hand of love to end racism', and that shyt was dumb...anyway, apparently he didnt get the message when he got that nikka wake up call for the ray rice/beadle situation...hopefully the brotha wakes up soon....

Here's the bottom line. These political parties are NOT your friends. You scratch their back and they scratch yours. It's like Free Agency in sports. These organizations are not friends of the players. If a player wants to get the best contract possible, the player has to make the organization COMPETE to resign him, which is why you allow rumors to float around of you being open to signing to other teams. If you come out and say you will stay with your current team no matter what, they WILL underpay you for your contract, and yes, they will still cut you when it is beneficial to them.

Blacks get ignored because they are Democratic shoe-ins. No need to compete for their vote, and hence, no need to woo them with benefits. NONE of these political parties are your buddies. You scratch their back and they scratch yours, but if they can get you to scratch their back without having to scratch yours, that's exactly what they will do.

Thinking that any of these political parties are your buddies is why we've been complacent for so long. You MAKE them work for your vote.

You don't have to necessarily vote Republican. You can sit out the election, which is something I've did... but the ultimate point isn't for blacks to become republicans. The point he's making is for blacks to stop being automatics for Democrats.

i agree blacks shouldnt be autos for dems, just like whites shouldnt be autos for repubs, but no one likes to talk about that, they only focus on the black and dem dynamic and try to get blacks to vote for others aka repubs.....

the whole point of what he was saying was to vote republican to get dems to pay attention to us/work for our vote....if he wanted to make the point about making them work for our votes, he shouldve just said that....there are other ways to do that, but voting republican just cause isnt one of them....but since he's republican and probably wants others to vote like him, it doesnt surprise me this was the 'best' idea he could suggest.....

also, sitting out elections doesnt do shyt either....
