AInt nobody in this context is trying to hear about "women should do their part in preventing men from beating them into a pulp". Steven A is smart enough to know this. We'd be rightfully offended if there were a case of a black person being lynched, and some asswipe took it as an opportunity to talk about " black people need to to prevent provoking white racism". Its not the time for all that.

Now if Steven A felt compelled to take the side of the abuser, he had to make sure his message was disciplined and clear. He could have said something to the effect of "women shouldnt hit men because violence begets violence...blah blah". Nobody but an extremist would disagree with something like. To talk about a woman "provoking" domestic violence is insensitive because we know in those situations all it takes is something like a woman not having dinner on the table at an agreed upon time in order to "provoke" an aggressive man.
