Blame the owner for not wanting to pay some tax when you got a 3 max player core that you drafted
Mickey Arison didn’t wanna keep paying luxury taxes for a Heat team that DID win. The reason why teams are a little less hesitant to worry about luxury taxes in 2018 is because spending that kind of money is an inevitability. Back in 2011 when the salary cap was significantly lower than it is now, that repeater tax will burn a team that isn’t constructed to win it all (and OKC wasn’t once they softened up Ibaka. They lacked balance).

And to anyone who would say “well they can sign free agent vets ring chasing for the minimum,” name one guy who fits that profile who did that for OKC since they moved there.

The cap wasn't what it is now. That 60m contract for harden would be like paying 100m for a 6man of the year right now. Who today in their mind would do that especially when Westbrook and Harden couldn't even play together. Anytime both of them were on the floor it didn't work which is why Thabo always started.

Compound that with the fact the owners were losing money from their other investments, I don't blame them. Presti had 0 choice :yeshrug:

If you want to blame Presti on something then it should be keeping the worse out of the 3 players.

Sam Presti can’t make Harden the starter though. That’s on the coach and by everyone’s account including Harden’s, the role he had was the role he was gonna keep having. It’s all hindsight and partly delusion that basically OKC was gonna be a Dynasty playing 3 on 5 every night.

And let’s be real. What did Dumars in was how poorly he managed the team financially when it came to free agency.

I refuse to believe Scott Brooks was wielding that much power. They completely botched that situation and now it's a wrap for them. It's not delusion or hindsight to say they were gonna be a dynasty...They were a dynasty in the making. Nobody had the balls to put Russ and Harden in their correct spots and put their faith directly in a c-tier coach like Scott Brooks.

If Brooks didn’t have the power to set up his own lineups then what was he there for?

And it we’re gonna be honest, the people who wanted Harden in a bigger role wanted Westbrook traded for a “real PG” like CP3 or Rondo. Fans have always been too polarizing on Westbrook to assume everything was gonna come together in spite of lacking big men and a bench

TYRONE GA!
Blaming the owner is one of the default excuses for bad gm criticism. And owners do play a part in this. But like I said, blaming the owner is like the number one excuse these gms use

the Harden shyt was on Bennett though.........Kendrick Perkins?????? :bryan:

Break up a trio of 3 future MVPs + Serge Ibaka over a little more than a million a year brehs :dead:

Have a franchise in OKC brehs :scusthov:

fukk okc for that cheap shyt.

They ruined pjiii just because they never wanted to let him play and be Durant two.
Yet when everyone went down pjiii was getting thirty a game damn near leading the league. To having no idea where pjiii is at all.

fukk okc, and I been writing about their admjn coup of the Sonics. To trying to lowball and never pay hof talent. Plus ruining their careers.
till they could shake free.
Yet in pjiii case he got the worst end of the stick.
With Durant I knew he was going to leave and why and wrote on that as well. Which is from this team ownership dynamic to lie cheat and steal.

Okc, is full of shyt as an org in any capacity.
From fo to coaching.

Literally okc's penny pinchin.
Is why they are stuck where they are and never achieved.
