Funny how CBS canceling a late-night show for being “no longer profitable” has done more to revive interest in late-night TV than anything since the Jay Leno/Conan fallout.

Completely separate from Colbert being funny, the timing of Paramount needing government approval for their merger with Skydance and them cancelling his show is just too coincidental.

The deal is supposed to happen within the next few weeks. Paramount is tying up lose ends. Regardless, once Skydance finishes the deal, CBS will look a lot different and cheaper. They are about to gut the shyt out of their broad cast programming.


Did Trump have something to do with the show ending? Slightly, but the writings been on the wall. You can’t lose 40M’s a year and expect to continue. Even if CBS told Colbert to gut his show, they wouldn’t meet the 40M’s lost. 200+ people working 4 days a week year round is expensive. The ads aren’t adding. It’s 90% economics and 10% of we do this Trump will push our merger through, even though they just paid the man 16Ms of the 60 seconds suit.
