How old is Colbert now though? He was putting in work during the Colbert Report days, once he got that Late Show gig he was able to just coast and do his thing.

People who watch CBS late night aren't coming for witty political satire, just easy going comedy and fun interviews with celebrities they like.

Could prob just put big Bang reruns on at that time and get higher ratings

Jimmy comes off as “edgy” but at the end of the day he knows where and how his bread is buttered

I feel you, I fukks with both tho. Jon is funnier that's probably why but Stephen is no where near as bipartisan as him so a lot of ppl dont like him because he comes off too left sometime. He has his moments tho

Honestly all of these late night shows are bland and weak.
I think it's just watered down because it's a national show.

I've heard stories about how good comedians were sort of handcuffed by being on popular tv shows.
Apparently guys like Jay Leno and Bob Saget had edgy humor in the 1980s before they got big.

Colbert was never really a "comedian" the way we think of guys who do stand up, but I do think he was pretty good exposing the ridiculousness of conservatives on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. That was probably the best version of him, even though he was known on The Daily Show and to a lesser degree on The Dana Carvey Show.

Compared to his Comedy Central days he just plays it safe and does the most obvious milk toast humor. I won't miss him at all. All these late night hosts are bland as fukk.
