Stephen Colbert under fire for Comedy Central's racist tweet based on satirical Asian skit
'The Colbert Report' host denied sending the tweet, which referred to 'the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever,' after Twitter slammed him and the hastag #CancelColbert began to trend.

Controversy arose after a tweet was sent based on a joke about Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder on 'The Colbert Report.'

THECOLBERTREPORT.COM
TV funny man Stephen Colbert has been catching heat for a "racist" tweet sent from an official Comedy Central account that promotes his show.

"The Colbert Report" satirist came under serious online fire Thursday after the@ColbertReport handle — run by the channel — tweeted a joke from one of his skits.

"I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever," it read.

It sent Twitter into meltdown, and the hashtag #CancelColbert soon started trending.

The tweet was soon deleted, and Colbert tweeted from his personal@StephenAtHome to say it had nothing to do with him.

He added: "I share your rage."

Confusion initially surrounded who exactly had sent the tweet, which references the satirical Asian character Colbert has previously assumed, from the officially verified account.

But the @ColbertReport handle later revealed it did indeed having nothing to do with Colbert himself.

"This is a Comedy Central account, with no oversight from Stephen/show," it stated.

The tweet came after Wednesday's episode of the "Colbert Report" saw its host poking fun at Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder for refusing to change his NFL team's name.

I understand the joke and humor behind it, but if African Americans were the target of this satire would people still be defending it?

I'm a big fan of Colbert, and was a bit surprised watching that skit. Don't really see how anyone who complains about bigotry towards their own race can say Asians don't have any right to be angry.

shyt was funny though:russ:

Oh so people saw the tweet before the skit? Is that where the outrage is coming from? Or is it because of the skit itself?

If it's because of the skit, then miss me with that bullshyt. Asians are rarely the target of race humor.

People can be outraged if they want but the outrage would probably be better directed at, you know, the Washington Redskins. Considering that there is no actual "Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever" and there's an actual Washington Redskins.

By the way, Colbert doesn't even run that twitter account. It's some random guy, completely non-affiliated with Colbert. On another note, I hate all this political correctness fake outrage. If Colbert had actually tweeted this, he's a fukking COMEDIAN and SATIRIST, that's what the fukk they do.
