In a futuristic society, all boys at a certain age have to walk...they cannot stop, only get food and water as they walk...the minute a boy stops, he is immediately shot dead...the race is over when only one boy is left alive. No matter how long they walk, they can never stop or die..Each town in the future society does this and King was the first to write about this type of future population control/fascist society outside of George Orwell. Powerful book and will fukk with your mind
He wrote that under his Bachman psudynum... good book. He also wrote Rage as Bachman too, which is about a kid shooting a couple of his teachers and taking his classmates hostage. .. he wrote that in 1977, well before all the school shooting fukkery. Harder to find now cuz it was let go out of print after some school shooters were found with copies.

My favorite books from him are as Bachman.

He also wrote the running man as Bachman.

Gang violence...
Cause they're scared or cause they find it boring?

As a kid I thought it was pretty boring, but as a man and a believer I find that whole devil shyt scary as fukk. I don't even like watching it at all cause it don't seem like fantasy to me.
cuz they're scared to death :russ:

Sounds like it could have gotten some inspiration from the one's who walk from Omelas...not the same concept, but the idea of a dystopian society and coming of age leading to a death march are in tact.

Out of King's entire book collection, I only like The Shining and Cellular:ld:

...and all his book adaptations turned into flicks (1408, The Mist, Pet Semetary, and all those 90s TVs mini movies), I prefer the film version instead of the hardcopy version...if that makes sense:lupe:

Never even heard of Cellular. What's that one about?

I like most of the Stephen King film adaptations. One I really liked was "Thinner", which he wrote under the pen name Richard Bachman.

I've read a lot of King's books. I mean, maybe not those many but at least 10 of his books I've read. I know he has way more.

Looking all through the thread, no love for King's short stories? That's his some of his best shyt IMO. "Skeleton Crew" and "Night Shift" in particular. Even newer ones like "Everything's Eventual" and "Full Dark, No Stars" are good.
