Bruh I remember being a young kid on the playground trying to do all them crosses and passes like Marbury

I do think this is part of what a Hall of Fame should be about. Longtime pros that display certain skill that gets people out of their seat or have kids trying to imitate on the playground deserves permanent recognition, doesn’t have to be a plaque

One of my biggest gripes in all of sports is that the ‘basketball’ hall of fame is not NBA. But if if that’s the rule then yea he should get in. He’s actually an OBVIOUS hall of famer by the rules. He is an icon and trailblazer for Chinese basketball.

Toni Kukoc, Dino Radja, Sarunas Marcelonus are hall of famers :mjtf: ….all had nba careers that aren’t even close to Steph, but bc they toiled in some shyt ass European league for years HOF voters basically give them the benefit of the doubt and get a HOF nod. It’s sickening.

Bc in actuality, once the barriers were lifted the fairy tale bubble burst and we saw 90% of the high end euro players came over here and were role players.

So yea…Steph deserves to get in

Which means what exactly?

Comparing the CBA to any European League is like comparing Conference USA football to the SEC.

Man fukk the euro league. That shyt is white privilege. Failed American hoopers been goin over there killin for years, but they would never get into the hall. But if it’s a homegrown euro they’ll hype him.

The difference in comp is made up by Steph being a superior player in the league.

Lol there are plenty of American basketball players who should get in there before Marbury. Like the whole Pistons starting five who beat the heavy favorites LA Lakers, also went to 7 game battle with San Antonio. One NBA championship > them several Chinese trophies.

Damn near every NBA team that traded him away eventually got better.
Nets even went to finals next season after trading Marbury. Phoenix became a championship contender couple years later. The Knicks fiasco too. He just wasn't producing a winning basketball in NBA.

The Nets thing you don't get.

He only played 16 games with Keith Van Horn and Kenyon Martin in the line up. Kidd first season he played 60 games alongside them.

His Nets tenure was awful and it had more to do with injuries and shytty lineups.

He was named Mr Basketball of NYC heading to GA Tech. His influence in the basketball world is very significant.
To keep it real it’s I had this conversation with someone else and talking about how it’s kinda crazy gasol and Yao hall of famers but he said “well it’s the basketball hall of fame not nba hall of fame”

And you know what he got a point, highschool college and international play should be accounted for, Toni kucko is in the hall of fame

I have not read the thread, yet, but I will say this, at his peak, he was a fukking beast and a nightmare matchup for any and everyone he faced. He had lightning quickness, blinding speed, ridiculous handle, good shooter with range, athletic as hell and s great passer, too..He stays in Minny with KG and wins a title or two, his entire career arc and perception is different.

Two of those were indeed Euroleague Final Four MVPs, but it was probably more because of their medals with the national team... they were all declared Top 50 in FIBA history in 1991:

I guess one can't make basketball HOF and not include at least some of FIBA HOFs...

Even with the international resume it's pretty weak. Compare kukoc to him. Open up wiki

No because of the international impact he had on the game
True...Basketball is very different from the NFL HOF.

NFL has small classes and pretty strict standards whereas the hoops HOF is not 100% about the NBA. Anyone that has had a major impact on the sport as a whole can get in.
