This is easy to combat.
Redirect the conversation to the fact that most of the statues and monuments were put up in direct response to the implimentation of Jim Crow as a celebration and revolt against carpet bagging northerners and also another spate of them were placed in response to the civil rights movement.
Now it not about who the statue is but why it was put up in the first place.
