I'll say this once, and I'll say it again.
You could not pay me to watch Family Matters in these modern times again. It aged horribly.
Even as a kid I knew that the Kenan and Kel show was ass.
Wayan's Bros. Show season 3-5 is GOAT.
Smart Guy is up there with the greats,
it definitely showcases the popular urban culture of the youth of the mid to late 90's properly. Even might be a great contender compared against the best.
Malcolm and Eddie, The Hughleys were decent shows.
So was Steve Harvey and the Jamie Foxx show.
Parent Hood was the GOAT.
Robert dozing off and having day dreams, were great. It feel off when they replaced two main characters, his son and his best friend.
Moesha was dope too. If Smart Guy represented Popular Urban music, Moesha reped Neo-Soul.
Dope vibe and life lessons.
Plus the father on Moesha and Parent Hood deserved awards for the best urban father ever.

But the greatest of all time black/urban show ever,
hands down,
even if it only recorded one season,
My Brother and Me.
Everyone still talk about and ask about that show.
My mother last week told me out of nowhere how much she enjoyed watching that show with me and how she liked it.

yea, i was always dis-interested in the "keenan & kel show" myself. even when my lil cousin had it on. "smart guy" and "my brother & me" were far & away superior shows & better representations than "keenan & kel". i mean, K&K were okay but the show was too cheesy.

matter fact, i agree with 90% of this post. great execution btw.

we differ on these tho:
- "parent hood" didnt fall off when they replaced the son. it got better when they kicked that herb to the curb and brought in T.K. THE GOAT. better storylines and the whole nine. show took a hit when wendell wilcox left tho.

- hughleys, steve harvey & jamie foxx were more than just decent.

- i couldnt stand mr. mitch......altho, i do respect his daddy skills. but goat urban dad? nah.

When they bought TK in, plus with its story it did become more interesting. But i'm use to the original cast. When they replaced Fazion Love, it was a rap for me.

Hughleys, Harvey, Foxx were all great shows. I watched them all. I felt like that Foxx show in its later season kept me uninterested, Harvey was dope all the way through. Hughleys was nice, but it did not catch many urban fans as it should becuase of the surban setting it was in and his wife from what I'm told.

Mr. Mitchell and Robert might not be the greatest urban father ever, but they are up there to me. The both bought each it's own distinctive life lesson to the show. They are both top 10.

To me Mr. Mitchell would be,
what if Cosby was more of an urban father.

yea, that last season of the "parent hood" was type weak. the season that focused on T.K. kinda made faizon an after-thought, but that last season where they werent heavy on T.K. storylines, needed a boost from faison.

looking back, i enjoy the last season of jamie fox more now than i did back in the day.

yea, steve harvey was dope from start to finish.

elise neal was a negative for the hughleys? sometimes i used to watch that chit just to stare at her. finest tv mom ever. i definitely do think that the suburban setting didnt help its popularity. and thats a shame because all the white characters got their chit off on that show. especially the old lady that used to "babysit" the kids. she shouldve had more of a regular role. one of the best characters on the low. i also think the show had too much depth & content for that time period.

yea mr mitch played his role perfectly. i just didnt like him because he wasnt cool, to be honest.

I liked elise neal,
but a lot of women say they weren't fond of her,
a lot of men said they disliked the show because of the theme and setting.
Basically it wasn't real enough to them,
like how the cosby show was.
I liked the hugleys show,
in fact,
if it came out today,
it would fit in and work properly.

meh, sounds like women werent fond of her because she was a lil too fine for a tv mom.

wouldnt you say that the hughleys was realer than the cosbys?

God's Plan
I been rewatching it the past couple months and it’s def one of my favorites. A lot of fine women on there as well. I’d put Steve Harvey and Jamie foxx show both in that mid tier.

Definitely in the 10 ten of Black sitcoms. I’ve been watching Bernie Mac, and he’s next level with it. He’s saying stuff you probably couldn’t get away with nowadays. My Wife and Kids, is another one.
