Come on breh. Ray Charles refused to play in front of segregated crowds in the late 50s and 60s. I don't wanna hear shyt about rappers in 2013 being afraid of fukking their money up. Performers back in the day were putting their entire LIFE on the line to stand up for what they believed in.

So you're not going to answer the question? I'm not going to get in a debate with you, it's just obvious that a man at his age with nothing to lose is going to approach this in a different way then some 20 something rapper trying to get on

I agree with you on that point. I'm just saying I don't think it's a valid point for most noteworthy rappers - ie not the indie guy struggling to make it. I'm talking about folks with careers, similar to Ray Charles or Stevie back in the day.

I don't wanna hear Jay-Z waxing poetic on this before heading to Miami with Justin Timberlake, for instance.

Stevie has more to lose because he has an older more crossover (aka white) fanbase than any 20 year old rapper...

C'mon now. Whats harder, a legendary musician whos money is straight and legacy etched in stone skipping out shows he doesn't even need to do or a rapper trying to make a name for himself?

It's not a competition. This need to be competitive in the midst of needing to come together as a people is pathetic. :mindblown:

Depends on how much jewelery he can afford to not buy. These rappers are always talkin about their "stuff," (which is a generalization, I know) but it would mean more to me if they tOok a stand on SOMETHING. They'll tweet about the injustice but not use an ounce of their influence to do anything, and then want to be taken seriously. This generation is so full of lip service.

Spoken like a serious man. I bet no rapper is gonna put his money where his mouth is like Stevie, and stop performing in Florida/Miami.

:aicmon:

Difference is a lot of rappers can't afford to just
miss out on potential show money.
Especially with when they already have a short shelf life as it is.

Stevie is on the other hand is a highly respected millionaire
and legend. He doesn't have to ever perform again, he only
does so because he enjoys it.
