I mean, as has been mentioned in recent articles, the amount of back pay grows as long as a stimulus isn’t passed. I’m not stating it as if I am confident it will happen, but some form of back pay has to occur so people can pay the rent and mortgages that are about to be collected. They won’t be able to afford that on just a simple extension of unemployment. And I am almost certain that retroactive payments to the end of Trump’s executive order (September? I'm not sure) was offered by Mnuchin, but Pelosi and Schumer wanted it to go to August.
I guess I just don’t see any point to a stimulus that only extends unemployment instead of addressing the bonus that was lost in August. That bonus was how those unemployed were able to pay their rent and other debt. Unemployment, by itself, isn’t enough to cover that and Democrats have always stressed that fact.
