because it was right before the election and the pressure on the republican senate would have been enormousWhy would the Senate Majority Leader, the single person standing between a stimulus bill of any kind and the american people, be shook of the guy they tell to cut the check? Are you reading what you're posting?
Let me ask you a simple question that I hope will help you understand why your position is laughable - forget the stimulus bill, can Steven Mnuchin tell Mitch McConnell no, to anything?

"mcconnell warns mnuchin not to divide republicans"
stop playing stupid![]()
McConnell on Tuesday told fellow Republicans that he has warned the White House not to divide Republicans by sealing a lopsided $2 trillion relief deal with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi before the election — even as he publicly said he’d slate any such agreement for a vote.
I don't see that he warned the Treasury Secretary. The Kentucky Republican appears worried that an agreement between Pelosi and Mnuchin would drive a wedge between Republicans, forcing them to choose whether to support a Pelosi-blessed deal with Trump that would violate conservative positions they’ve stuck with for months. Many Republicans say they can’t vote for another huge Pelosi-brokered agreement.
McConnell, meanwhile, is pushing ahead with votes this week on GOP measures that stand little chance of advancing. On Tuesday, the GOP-held chamber went on record in favor of another round of payroll subsidies for businesses such as restaurants and hotels that are having particular difficulty during the pandemic.

imagine typing all this bullshyt, because you cant bear to admit that pelosi should have taken the 1.8 trillion and now she isnt getting shytSo you just furiously googled for an article that clearly states:
When did Steven Mnuchin become part of the WH?I don't see that he warned the Treasury Secretary.
What does that bolded statement have to do with your boogie man Mnuchin? I want you to read this quote incredibly carefully. Notice where it states a Pelosi-blessed deal with Trump? It then goes on to say that such a deal would violate conservative positions they've held for MONTHS.
That is the reason that McConnell has told Trump and Meadows (the WH), no each time they float to the media that Trump is interested in getting a large deal done. That alone shows you that McConnell is more concerned with the Senate and GOP leverage than he was delivering an easy win for the incumbent, who was desperately in need of one prior to the election.
Meanwhile, in the same article:
McConnell had no issues with putting the Senate on record to support business but didn't even attempt to do the same for the american people..if that doesn't speak volumes, I don't know what else to tell you.
Your googled article helped prove the point that several of us have been stressing to you of why you're wrong and your original point was a terrible one.
Also, don't think I didn't see you conveniently ducking my question in the last post.
If Trump has so much power and McConnell is so shook, why hasn't Trump "ordered" him to deal with Pelosi?![]()

Yeah. I think this is the game plan.
Mitch can play games all he wants, Biden is going to declare a National Emergency and he has already said that there will be a mask mandate for his first 100 days, so he's positioning himself to make the call.
The National Emergency will force Congress to decide on the amount of money to give out.
Democrats aren't incompetent.
trump repurposed fema money. the president can repurpose money but can't pull money out the treasury.
"No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law," reads Article I, Section 9.
"Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution says, "The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States"

it kills you to admit it![]()

There are key differences in what they proposing and rationale. I would be shocked if something got signed anytime soon.
some things I noticed:
they want to give the more trump administration control over funds.
My guess would me they want trump decide the unemployment assistance amount.
They want bring back the work search requirement for unemployment.
Their extension is only for 1 month.
They love ppp.
They want to make loan forgiveness easier.
A lot of chain type business should qualify.
It seems like republicans want to open quickly and fully. They want dems to rid of their restrictions and don't want to help them with cost associated with them.
