Another lynching was caught on tape. Once again the question of "wheres the outrage of white amerikkka" dominates the discourse. Despite all the clever rhetoric, long-winded facebook posts and memes pointing out white hypocrisy and disingenuity, the overall tone is "we care what white people think on the matter and we're offended by their silence" We have 400 years and counting of shyt to be angry about, with the power of social media our voices should be loudest, not looking for the weak and impotent support from people who only do so when it's politically convinient.

This is where you militants and separatists have a fundamental problem.

You want to highlight the race problem in America but you insist on silencing the very people who need to be involved in discussion.
Bomani Jones touched on this sort of thing when he hosted First Take recently (I think it was a month or two ago).

The reality is you need white people to start speaking up and talking about this with each other, in part (because as some have said), black people didn't start racism so it's not predominantly up to them to fix it.

This isn't to suggest that people sit back and hope white people work against their own self interest of white supremacy. But as long as they never have to answer for anything or speak up...the status quo remains.

Edit - this is the thread where the Bomani take was posted, but it appears the video in the thread was made private and is unavailable. It was from July

I mean, at this point, what is there to say anymore?

We need to succeed as individuals first, then come together with like minded people around us Then build something.

Or not. I dunno, shyt got me numb.

that white acceptance is more valuable than life itself to a lotta black folks....

instead of building the group power we need to prevent this kinda stuff...

we rather live on our knees beggin em to acknowledge that killing us is wrong...

not even beggin em to make changes.. just to verbally admit that its wrong

to alotta black folks, our livelihood depends on how the dominant society feels about us...

thats sounds like slavery to me...

white ppl will never ever change and im tired of us not getting it. these fukks have been like this for centuries, they even pass their way of doing things down on purpose to their kids so they can keep their position in society, so what makes u think some memes, tweets, t shirts or standing in the street yelling is gonna " touch their hearts" change their minds??

"A single death in front of you is a tragedy, a million deaths on the other side of the world is a statistic". Its human nature not really to care about things unless it personally affects them. Idk what yall want exactly, clearly they don't care so we gotta move on and force the issue somehow. This all comes back to the fact that we have no power and therefore no respect and so these things are gonna happen.

You sound like an idealist. Whites will never speak out against white supremacy because the fukking CREATED the system and they benefit from it way too much. Its going to be up to black people and black people alone to free themselves.

I don't think what I said (and what Bomani elaborated on) is idealistic.
And I think you have a point.

People should form close-knit communities and build wealth and power that way.
But engaging others in the discussion...err...correction of the problem is also necessary.
