Especially in 2014. Streaming services, anyone? People are acting like this is 98 and everyone is going to Sam Goody and Media Play to buy CD's on Tuesday.

I mean fukk..we're music fans on here, not executives. If you wanna say "Oh Ross isn't popping because he didn't sell such and such." or "G-Unit isn't really back because they only sold x amount" then you're placing weight in the wrong thing. I don't go on this forum because I'm trying to be in the music business or work for a label. It's because I love dope hip-hop.

So if Mastermind has cuts on it that I love to bump in the whip then he's poppin to me. If the G-Unit EP has tracks that are fire to you, then they're back. They're back making MUSIC. That's as far as we should care about it, honestly. There's no money in our pockets from it either way. Enjoy bars, hooks, and beats and leave that other stuff to the people who get paychecks to give a damn. You're posting screenshots of iTunes charts for what? Listen to what you like and leave it at that.

Sales havent meant anything for years, nobody sells shyt anymore, cant believe we still have big "flop" threads every month when maybe 4 rappers dont flop.

well drake still selling 3million + copies every album so clearly people still want to buy goood music.

Them pop artist dont seem to have a problem either

So in your logic, Macklemore is good music because he went platinum but someone like Big Krit isnt because people didnt buy his album:ehh:

Generally it shouldn't matter, but people have been talking about that shyt since forever.
The first rapper I heard talking album sales was Pac, when he was talking about how he sold more than Big therefore he was better. It might matter for 13-14 year old girls cause they like artists based on popularity. For a grown up, it's ridiculous.

I think the sales talk died a bit but people still give jabs to people like 50 cent cause he was the one talking that shyt the most. To this day he still compares his debut to other peoples debut. I don't know how many times I've heard him say that GRODT sold 13 million records.

Fair enough. I guess I'm specifically talking about on The Coli. I'm just saying it seems obsessive sometimes and people seem to forget you can just bump music.
