The majority of the population connected or not aren't hardcore heads.
They aren't going to be reading The-Coli all day or waiting on leaks.

The same applies to most all other sorts of entertainment centered websites.
They're meant for a small section of society and an even smaller section
actually visits them regularly.

So yeah I think "Only on the internet" applies often to the sorts of individuals
we run into and the music we can come up on.

^ This!

"Only on the internet" is another word for avid hip hop listeners or those who frequent hip hop websites/forums. I know a lot of my friends are avid listeners and base their opinions strictly on the music instead of all the extra shyt that we discuss everyday.

The term was also heavily used in the early 00's when there weren't that many people online checking for leaks. So being online would make you "more aware" of the music artists released.

I only see people making threads like this on the internet.

Nobody in real life would make this thread:troll:

If I believed this board was a reflection of real life, then I would think 50 cent was still relevant musically. Which we all know he isn't.

a large portion of the population does care about music. if you're not part of it you would think only on the internet people have different opinions.

but then again most people on here don't really live like they say

the whole "only on the internet" and "in real life" arguement baiscally come down to casual fans opinion (real life) vs. a well-informed sophisticated (on the internet).

at the end of the day, people have shytty taste whether they post on a message board or kick it on the corner store.

Its a double edged sword, most my homeboys ain't informed about shyt music wise and don't be knowin when nikkas dropped mixtapes or even albums sumtimes....but they always wanna talk about how sumbody fell off,and who ain't shyt no more which agitates me,when I can't bring up arguments I would bring up on here cuz they'll just be like :wtf:....on the other hand they don't let the extra bullshyt get in the way like we do on here, sumtimes we know too damn much on here to just enjoy the music:why:....I wonder how happy id be with the hiphop scene as it is if I didn't have innanets and visit this forum...the more ignorant you are to it the happier nikkas seem with this shyt:manny:...but I guess that's life in general, don't even know y I'm awake right now

"Only on the Internet" applies to the small portion of hip hop fans who frequent message boards... Honestly? How many hip hop heads do you know, and how many of them are on forums like this? Yea 80% of people have the Internet, but most of them aren't discussing music on forums...

True, they're discussing it on Facebook and Twitter. Which is the internet :skip:

Honestly though. Most people in real lfie have gotten over the Jay-Nas beef.

there's a certain demographic of hip-hop forum visitors that make up a small proportion of general internet users. Even those who like hip hop.

It;s one thing to check blogs. It's another to be on forums.

i just bring up the NaS/jay beef to irritate jigga stans.... honestly, i've never really been into jay, don't truly understand his appeal, but really don't give a fukk tho'... but it's just too much fun riling up the jigga stans.. you could say something as innocent as iww > jay's catalog and the hova stans will get to frothing at the mouth and writing 15 page diatribes about how jay-z is sleeping with beyonce and NaS ain't... shyt's too comical.... a'iight, out

Exactly.

"Only on the internet" applies to those who allow what's being said online influence their opinion or taste in music. There are cats on here who actually ask if it's "ok" to like certain artists. Everyone has the internet, but most people just speak about music with people in person, their actual friends, not with usernames on a forum.

Being online doesn't mean you're more informed either. Things have to happen offline, in order for you to even hear about them online. Being online for music is solely about convenience, not knowledge. Remember, leaks are in physical hands way before they even hit the net.

people dont say "only on the internet" in real life.

People only say "only on the internet", on the internet, because they feel it validates their opinion over someone else on the internet.

But they're saying it....on the internet. :ohhh:
