They're not corrupted. They came to America specifically for the chance to live the carefree liberal lifestyle.

My buddy and business partner (a born and bred new yorker) told me I wouldn't believe the amount of stories of indian and middle eastern women that move to NYC, see it as the pinnacle of American culture, and leave their old way of living behind to (in their own words) "become white". Cause to them, white = westerner/american/european etc.

Hood Culture does not = black culture... and the fact that all yall thinks so just reinforces my thoughts on why I feel that American blacks truly don't have a culture....

Unfortunately thanks to the media that's the predominant image of black people that's shown the world over. Considering we don't have control of our image as black people. Most people think hip-hop + basketball + hood culture= blackness in America. That's so far away from the truth. Us on this board know that we encompass and embody many positive aspects, unfortunately considering we are not the dominant population, we are viewed through their lens (white America's) and it's narrowed down to stereotypes because most people in this country do not see black people on a daily basis except for on TV.

This is why certain Africans and West Indians tend to come here and not want to be associated with African Americans cause of the negativity associated with AA culture. I don't condone it or respect it, but you have to consider most Africans and West Indians come into America in a different class and social standing than most African Americans. The only people in my family that lived in the hood were all on my mom's side in Jersey and they all grew up to become college graduates and have great careers and success on their own. Everyone else in my family, extended or not, lived in the suburbs.

Well I can say this when I went to a Mayweather and pacman fight mostly all the women in the house were foreign Filipino.
All the men were mostly older American but there was a few that was just 10 yrs older than me.

But they all said the same thing white, black, or Hispanic men, "what ever you do don't bring her back over here.they change when they get over here and become a different person.if you're gonna go over there and get one keep her over there"-from a older white guy at the fight party

Americans and english-speaking canadians as a whole dont have culture. Its replaced by material consumerism, feel-good morality and pop culture/media/pro sports worship. Only french-canadians from quebec(if you know they exist) have their own distinct culture but its gradually eroded by the persistent, omnipresent and seductive power of anglo-north american culture(or lack of thereof)

Happens to young men as well. Especially young African boys they try so hard to be hood. They lose their culture and try to adopt another one. To me, anyone who loses their own culture and substitutes it for another is a weak minded person.

You would be adopting a new religion. A Muslim in Somalia and a Muslim in Dakota have the Same if not similar practices. Whichever (non religious) cultural beliefs you want to adopt is up to you. If you neglect your own I would still call that weak minded.
