'Storytelling' is the dumbest qualification for being a good Rapper that people use

It's just one aspect of rap. I remember I think it was Big Daddy Kane or some other old head who said, I don't care if you rappin the alphabet so long as you make that shyt sound good when you spit it.

Similarly, you can tell a story with your rhymes if you want, but even if it's on some Salman Rushdie level of writing, if it don't actually sound good I really don't give a fukk.

That said, the guys that tell the best stories in their rhymes are typically also really talented emcees to begin with.

What you dweebs^^^^ are ignoring is that all rap is basically story telling. It's a non factor to include it as a discussion of who's good.

It's just a sneak way to include certain rappers higher

Like Jay Z, Nas, Rakim, Lupe Fiasco, Ice Cube, Tupac, Biggie, Kendrick Lamar, Pete Rock, Eminem, J. Cole, Busta Rhymes, UGK, Q-Tip, Lauryn Hill, TI, even Boosie, Chamillionaire, YG, Drake, Joey Badass, Ab-Soul, The Game, Dr. Dre and others have told at least one well-composed story.
Its one of the original aspects of rap in the hip-hop tradition

Thread starter is not intelligent, it takes skill to tell a story especially a good story. I was always confused when people would say Wayne was the best rapper. All he does it say lines that start with "I'm ill like a.... Or I'm like a..." It's so easy to rap when every line stars with I, but it takes skill to make a song that has meaning.

Individuals of African descent are a people who enjoy history spoken with the tongue friend so its a quality we appreciate in an individual. That extends to rappers.
