Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
We used to not have every fukking release available to us every single week.

Back in the days, you'd have to sample the album for like 30 seconds and decide on one or two to buy and live with based on the snippets, single, album covers and tracklist.

Now, every fukking thing that comes out is available to everyone all the time so we don't get to let 1 album marinate with us.

Also music is much easier and cheaper to make. People can record anywhere and get it mixed down and have quality sound. This leads to an offer abundance of music and too many artist having access to listeners time. How can music last now if everyone can drop a single or release a track whenever? Nobody can keep up... Music in general is losing its value by cheapening the experience.

I disagree. Streaming makes things more accessible year round, meaning that albums you may have missed ten years ago are readily available. It's also a good indicator of what people are listening to consistently. DAMN had been in the top 10 of the chart for an entire year. Uzi, Future, and a few other "old" albums are still high on the charts. That clearly shows those albums are being listened to still, months or a year later.

To add to that, theres something about the artists meeting and chopping it up in a studio when making a song

Nowadays, you can email the beat to your guest feature and have it back the same day without having met and talked about the song at all

The only thing streaming does for me is make me lazy on listening to albums. Back when we had to buy cds you had to go through a lot to get that cd so listening to it at the end of the day just made it all worth it. shyt just be there waiting for you on streaming. I mean it’s whatever though.

I dunno, there's recent releases that grabbed me and have stayed in rotation all the way from then until now. I think it's moreso an overabundance of everyone sounding the same these days.

The pros significantly outweigh the cons, I don't even know if this is a con.

And I wouldn't say streaming, it's been that way for some time. Illegal downloading, i.e. free music has been hot for decades at this point. At least in my circle. Anything you pay for, you'll treat more preciously than things you get for free :yeshrug:.

If the album is dope, it gets played, people aren't fooling us with two dope singles and mediocre albums anymore.

Buut would you really rather have a unxeniable classic or near classic released only or twicr a year like back in the day?

Or multiple solid releases a year like in modern times?

I think I do enjoy the frequency and convenience of releases that the modern era provides. It is a small consolation.
