You are just wrong here. I'm a huge FF7 fan, a remake would make me the happiest gamer out. But the only thing ff7 innovated was cutscenes. It was the most commercially successful one to that point. But ff7 is not the game that made the series what it is as you said.

Yeah, which is why a remake of 7 would make you the happiest gamer out, rathern than 1-6 or 8-13 huh.

One.....don't you look dumb.
Two....look...at..you.

You don't make 6+ games in a franchise without being very successful. Purist fans of the series or RPGs in general don't look at 7 as the best or the most influential.

People who are true purists know that 6 is by far the best. HOWEVER, the better part of the RPG community very much so laud FF7 as one of the most influential games of all time. To this day, Aeris dying is one of the most iconic events in modern media. Sephiroth is the quintessential FF villian (even though people admit Kefka is better). And it was the game that made it really cool to play RPGs without it Square wouldnt be the company it is today...prolly wouldnt even be around. BECAUSE of FF7, FF8 was one of the biggest launch events of the gen.

It changed how we connect with games, it changed the typical themes of RPG games (from high fantasy to cyber-punk) and rewrote what it was you could do with storytelling. (People also forget that Cloud "thinking" he was Zack the whole time was a new spin on the amnesia trope. Oh, and the fact that AVALANCHE are basically terrorists.).

from the home of coca-cola, i'm not referring to s
Final fantasy was a classic franchise long before 7. Just because y'all didn't start gaming untill PSX doesn't change that fact.

Final Fantasy 7 obviously cost the most to make so fukk all that "classic" talk... FF series wasn't successful on any big scale UNTIL FF7..
7 moved the units.. not 1-6

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Word. I get and somewhat agree with that, though I've never had any interest in Halo being on Sony platforms and while I was interested a bit in Gears, I was fine with it staying on Xbox. May be the traditionalist in me, but I've liked consoles to have their own identity with the types of games they had to some extents as they did in the past.

My grip with Tekken is somewhat how folks are saying with SF in that Tekken, for 6 iterations, was only on Playstation, AND started on there as far as consoles went, so it's legacy was rooted in Sony grounds (Tekken was so synonymous with Playstation that Tekken 5 arcade had a built in controller port SPECIFICALLY for playstation dualshock controllers) , so it just seemed weird for it to be somewhere else, regardless if it was 3rd party. At least with games like GTA, Metal Gear even Final Fantasy, they had beginnings in other places prior to being Sony mainstays for years. I kinda felt the same about DMC and RE going MP as well, though RE I kinda fell off with anyway tho.

Key difference with SF though is that while it was essentially MP early on, it was initially all over the place, as it still kinda was exclusive to consoles for a time too though, at least specific iterations of it. SF2 was just SNES, then Hyper Championship Edition was Sega, then turbo edition was SNES again (did Super SF2 come to Genesis?, I don't remember). SFIII Double Impact was Dreamcast only IIRC as well. If anything, SF has always been the industry whore.:steviej:

I didn't even bat an eye about TR going that route tbh about it. I stopped playing TR after part 2 and only had mild interest in the reboot. As a counter to Uncharted, I felt it was fitting for MS to have TR.
Super Street Fighter 2 came to genesis..it was the inferior version of the game tho...SNES was at its prime at the time..

Yes with cutscenes/presentation. Not RPG gameplay wise.

To this day, Aeris dying is one of the most iconic events in modern media.
No its not, its a big deal to ff7 fans, but that's it

Sephiroth is the quintessential FF villian (even though people admit Kefka is better).
Plenty of villains in the series are really good. Story telling has always been its strong suit and that didn't start or end with 7

And it was the game that made it really cool to play RPGs without it Square wouldnt be the company it is today...prolly wouldnt even be around. BECAUSE of FF7, FF8 was one of the biggest launch events of the gen.
It's still not "really cool" to play RPGs.:heh:

And square would be fine. They were very successful before 7. One of the most successful at that time.

You call it a "trope" then claim FF7 started it. In reality that's been used in all types of media for a long time. Also RPGs including the final fantasy series still reside in the fantasy setting.

The adult themed cyberpunk setting is exactly why I'd love a remake. No other rpg i can think of uses that type of setting.

Final Fantasy 7 obviously cost the most to make so fukk all that "classic" talk... FF series wasn't successful on any big scale UNTIL FF7..

Y'all are so wrong with this. How old are y'all.

Just like in the tomb raider thread Sony Stans tried to claim tomb raider wasnt a classic franchise :snoop:

6 is a better game period...you talking to a nikka that has played and beat every numbered game in the series and tactics.

No its not, its a big deal to ff7 fans, but that's it
s
You sound stupid fam, search it...people who dont even play fukking FF know of it.

Plenty of villains in the series are really good. Story telling has always been its strong suit and that didn't start or end with 7
No one said that fam :mindblown: But in 7 the simple tropes of Final Fantasy were placed in a whole new dimension.

It's still not "really cool" to play RPGs.:heh:
It's nowhere near as niche as it was bro.

And square would be fine. They were very successful before 7. One of the most successful at that time.
You sound dumb, FF7 sold 10 million units bro...the only other games ANYWHERE close were what....Final Fantasy 10 and 8 both of which moved 8 million.
Succesful is one thing...but 7 made them a SUPER company on the same level as Capcom.

You call it a "trope" then claim FF7 started it. In reality that's been used in all types of media for a long time. Also RPGs including the final fantasy series still reside in the fantasy setting.
Ummmm nah, cyber-punk wasn't a huge deal UNTIL ff7 partially because of tech constraints.

The adult themed cyberpunk setting is exactly why I'd love a remake. No other rpg i can think of uses that type of setting.
8 is cyberpunk, 10 has cyberpunk elements, 13 is cyberpunk, Deus Ex is cyberpunk, .hack, Xenosaga, and much more...all these games are post-FF7

Y'all are so wrong with this. How old are y'all.
I can bet you haven't beat ALL of them. 80's baby fam. I'm sure you dont know shyt about Cloud of Darkness and Exdeath, the first gilgamesh fight, the four fiends or the Tyc00n family. Or none of that breh. If there are two series you not gonna catch me slipping on is Street Fighter and Final Fantasy fam.

It's clear you dont know shyt about anything pre-FF6 you are just talking out of your ass on some "oh ff been around before 7" of course the fukk it has its the 7th game...:mjlol:
