All I heard growing up from white and black kids was that I sounded "white" because I spoke with proper pronunciation and grammar.

From both white and black kids.

So don't tell me it doesn't happen. Believe me, it fukked with my head something serious. People who looked like me made fun of me for learning and never spoke to me otherwise.

White kids kept calling me white unless they had a joke that needed a nikka for the punchline. It was an issue for me, don't downplay it like it doesn't happen.

I was skipped ahead in elementary, put into Gifted/Magnet throughout middle school and put into Advanced Placement courses in high school before finally just being bused 2-hours (each way) to a white school where I was 1 of perhaps 10 children of color in a school of 500+ maybe 1,000 students.

Trust me, if you are extremely well-educated in the hood you get called white.

The high school I had to go to was in Canoga Park (I stay in Los Angeles). Thats 30 miles away. 45 mins by car. 2 hours by schoolbus.
I had to be at the bus stop at 5:30am just to receive an education on par with my intellect because thats how far removed they put good schools from South Central Los Angeles back in 2001.

So I would be treated like shyt all week at school for being black, then get called white on the weekends around the neighborhood.

Yes, black students who excel are called white. Or, at least they were.

shyt was so traumatic I turned down a scholarship to Otis (art college) in favor of simply being done with schooling.
