It's a new league. There's 2 football leagues coming in to compete with the CFL during the NFL offseason. This and the XFL (again.)
Man if I was a player in the NFL and couldn't land with a team, I would take my L and find a new job. Not risking CTE to ball out for the damn Birmingham Bombers.
It's their dream, and a lot of them didn't get a chance to put themselves in a position to be setup for after the NFL. Some of these guys would play contact football for free. At the end of the day all he can do is use this platform to find a way to elevate himself somehow.
People underestimate the NBA's culture and how they take care of players by letting them get front office jobs and give them chances to remain relevant, not much of that gets to happen in the NFL (plus there's a lot more players to take care of), so I actually expect to see a lot of journeyman NFL players and guys that fizzle out to start taking advantage of new opportunities to actually play.
